October 16, 200322 yr Hi Flightsimmers!I'm new to the forum and just thought I'd let you know about a report I've recently done. Seeing as Concorde is fast approaching retirement, I've written a "from the cockpit" report. It is about 6,500 words and has 65 screenshots, and I've tried to make it as detailed as possible. Hope you enjoy it, the address is:www.sleath.co.uk/concorde/speedbirdone.htm
October 16, 200322 yr Author Moderator Hi Oliver,I've had a quick look through this and I'd like to congratulate you on a fine piece of work. It's good enough to become a reference document.Concorde's withdrawal from service is a real shame especially in this centenary year. At least I can look forward to it visiting Manchester next week and maybe we will have one as a permanent exhibit.Kind regards, Ray (Cheshire, England). October 17, 200322 yr Great work. Enjoyable reading and those screenies were nice too.Maybe its time to start writing your first FS book....;-)
October 17, 200322 yr Hello Oliver, An impressive write up - you've captured many of the techniques that are used on the real aircraft. Have you flown on Concorde? The auto-throttles aren
October 17, 200322 yr Author Moderator Hi Andrew,Nice to hear from you too :-) Yes, I'll be taking a day's leave next Wednesday and I'll decide where I'm going to position myself once I know which runway will be in use. At present they're using 06 and if the wind stays in a northerly or easterly quarter next week (as seems likely) it will throw all my plans out of the window! Is the 31st flight the one that will leave Concorde at Manchester for good? I heard earlier in the week that Manchester was hoping to get one permanently but nothing has been confirmed as far as I know.I'll take it as read that you'll be down at Heathrow on Friday week. What a sad day that will be :-(Cheers, Ray (Cheshire, England). October 17, 200322 yr Hello Ray, The 31st flight will be a museum ferry flight, flying out from Heathrow, a loop in the Atlantic and back to Manchester. I think this will be a permanent home for Alpha Charlie, unless British Airways or another operator can get them flying again in the next year. I hope to be around Thursday/Friday. Also I
October 17, 200322 yr Author Moderator Hi Andrew,Thanks for the info on that one-way flight. I very much doubt Concorde will fly again commercially as Airbus has withdrawn maintenance support. So I hope the weather is kind to you next week and that you are able to savour this wonderful aircraft one final time. I'll probably be in the Airport Hotel garden close to the 24L threshold for that take-off assuming she departs from that runway.Regards, Ray (Cheshire, England). October 18, 200322 yr Author Moderator Hi Ashleigh,What a brilliant link - thank you so much! I will park at a local rail station and get the train to the Airport then hop on a bus down to the Viewing Park. Taking the car just isn't an option. Will you be there?Cheers, Ray (Cheshire, England). October 19, 200322 yr Excellent work, Oliver!! Very informative, very well written, a pleasure to read and the screenshots finish it off nicely. You mentioned incompatibility problems between the Project Mach 2 Concorde and FS2004. It's been suggested in another thread that this might be to do with the gauges. Can you confirm what the incompatibilities are?RegardsGraham
