New 470GTX display hassles

Featured Replies

Have just upgraded my graphics card from a ASUS 9800GT (factory OC) to a Gigabyte 470GTX (factory OC) and while it is early days two things stand out. Firstly no noticeable improvement in IQ and FPS which is disappointing after all the hype over fermi (CPU is i7 960 unclocked) - much greater improvement in IQ when I upgraded from a dual to a quad although not much change on FPS. Secondly, I am now seeing an annoying display anomaly in the VC of some aircraft (eg LDS 767, F1 Mustang), where any narrow vertical lines, particularly those in gauges, appear fuzzy or shimmering or broken in to line of dots when not viewed from directly in front. AF is set to 16x using nvidia inspector and 260.99 drivers but the same with 190 series drivers using nhancer. AF set to trilinear in FSX and other settings as per NickN's guidelines. I don't recall seeing this effect with the old card. I could test this by reinstalling the old card but it was a struggle to get the 470 into my case so I am a bit reluctant to do this. Any suggestions on possible fixes appreciated.Bruceb
