Downloading weather

Featured Replies

This is going to sound really dumb, so I'm very sorry! When you click the box to download the weather every 15mins or so in fs9, how big is the actual download in mb? And does that vary depending on whether you're using a 3rd party wx add-on - like as6 etc?Any help appreciated. (unless you think it's a really dumb question!)Jon.

Hi,It's not a huge download. With AS you don't use the default weather downloads at all. AS download the weather and then injects the data into FS. This is about a 400MB download.

Actually it's about 400kB. Too fast with the fingers there, JSKorna! :( Cheers, SLuggy

I do not have a signature. Why are you reading this?

As others have noted, FS basically downloads METAR data, which is only a tiny bit of information. The thing which might slow your computer down though, is if you have very high resolution cloud textures installed into FS, which that data eventually gets transformed into when displaying in FS.Al
