October 18, 200322 yr Hi.I have recently downloaded several airline packages from the Project AI site. I conveniently installed the packages with the PAI Installer one by one. I can see the different PAI aircraft and liveries (Air France, KLM, etc...) when selecting a flight in FS 2004 , but for some strange reason, the EL-AL aircraft do not show in the list of available PAI aircraft. I checked in the main Aircraft folder (CFG files and textures files) - and surely enough, the EL-AL aircraft are all there ! Am I doing something wrong or is the El-AL package corrupted in some way ? Thanks in advance for your help.
October 18, 200322 yr There are 3 lines in each aircraft.cfg file that specify whether that aircraft will be displayed in the selectable list:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/43779.jpg
October 18, 200322 yr Hi,You should'nt really see any PAI aircraft to select in FS, as these are AI only planes. Also having these planes available to select in FS will increase the time it takes for your sim to load. You can make them all available by editing the .air files and changing the "aircraft type" from 2 (which makes it unavailable) to 0 (which makes it available), or if you want to make them all unavailable do the reverse. You can use AirED to change these air files, I dont have the link right know but do a google and you will find it.Dan.
October 18, 200322 yr Dan, are you saying that changing .air files "aircraft type" from 0 to 2 makes it unavailable in display only?
October 18, 200322 yr Hi,Yes changing this figure will make them "invisible" to the user but not to FS, they will still be there but just wont show up in the interface. It will help with the speed of the sim loading, I have loads of PAI planes, and if they are availble to select it slows the loading down alotDan.
October 18, 200322 yr Hi Dan,Thanks a lot for the tip.I will try it right away and will post the results later in this forum. All the best.Twister
October 18, 200322 yr Still no luck...I downloaded the AirEd application but, to my surprise, couldn't locate ANY air. files in the PAI aircraft folders...So, the obvious question is: " how do I edit the (missing) air file ?Thanks in advance for your assistance !Twister
October 18, 200322 yr Hi,So in your PAI aircraft folders you have no *.air files?, odd, sounds like you must have a corrupt install of the PAI planes.Maybe you need to reinstall them?.Dan.
October 19, 200322 yr Hello Dan,I guess that Project AI has found a way to make those thing fly without *air files in the different aircraft folders.Except for the fact that El-Al liveries do not show up in the "select-a-flight" menu, everything else seems to work fine...I'm still puzzled by this thing...Thanks again for your helpTwister
October 19, 200322 yr There is a known problem with one of the textures in the El-Al package. You might want to check the PAI forums for the complete story on this. Also, the PAI installers will install multiple packages at once, in case you didn't know.I've installed as many as 20 at the same time without a hitch.Sure save quite a lot of time....KJhttp://fsgateway.com/frank/fs9paibeta.jpg
October 20, 200322 yr Hello KJThanks for your input - I suspected there was some kind of corrupted file with the EL-AL livery since I can see all the other packages without problem. After experiencing the problem, I decided to reinstall the packages one by one to avoid missing some kind of "error" messages...Could you provide a link for the PAI forums ?Thanks for your helpTwister
October 20, 200322 yr I also found that one of the El Al planes (the 747-??? 'white body') seemed to show blank textures. I replaced it with another set of textures I got from the PAI file library. The PAI forum can be found at: www.flightsimmer.comNot sure if this link will will work, but give it a try:http://www.flightsimmer.com/forums/forumdi...y.php?forumid=3I installed El Al using the most recent installer package (version 2.11) and everything seemed to work fine.Even though I don't 'fly' my AI planes, I like to see how they appear in the sim. Otherwise, you won't see some of the planes in the sim unless you are at the right airport at the right time. I couldn't see some AI Aardvark planes, even though I wanted to. I knew they were loaded and working, but I still wanted to see them using he "create a flight" menu.. I used a workaround that allowed me to see the planes. This modification is for the purposes of viewing the planes in the "create a flight" menu ONLY.First, find an AI plane (in the 'Aircraft' folder) that is of the same type and model that you CAN see. Make sure it is exactly the same type and model as the plane you wish to see. Then, manually add the new texture to the folder by copying and pasting the new texture into the folder. Make sure you are not overwriting any that are already there. Lastly, update the aircraft.cfg file as necessary. Be sure NOT to use the same title in the aircraft.cfg as the original or current (unviewable) version. I give mine a unique name. For example, "title=AIA DC9-32 AMX viewable" Make other modifications to the aircraft.cfg as you normally would. This helped me.--Matt
October 20, 200322 yr Twister,I just randomly selected about a half dozen PAI a/c and all have air files.JimBob
