November 15, 201015 yr I am likely misunderstanding how ASE works but here is what I see at CYUL (Montreal)...On approach to CYUL (DEST airport, lock to DEST = Y, flight plan entered) about 10-15 miles from runway, I checked the ASE report page, the reported weather 'lock to closest' field is changing every 1 or 2 seconds between CYUL and CYWU (CYWU or something like that...another station interpolating). CYUL is a reporting station AFAIK, yet it is picking up / conflicting with another station 'advanced interpolation' when in the immediate vicinity of CYUL. When I land at Montreal (CYUL), the weather is now locked to the other station, not CYUL. I can set/lock to CYUL by unchecking lock to closest, but this does not change the weather in FSX.I don't understand why the program can not simply use CYUL metar, instead it interpolates with another station. This is reproduceable every time. Simply make an approach into CYUL as your DEST airport, watch the report page in ASE...you will see it constantly battle between CYUL and some other station n the METAR.Using DWC always. Tested in Stnd mode as well, same result.Have not seen this problem at other airports. Am I correct in assuming if the DEST airport is a reporting station (like CYUL for example), when ASE locks to DEST and the DEST airport has it's own METAR (a wx reporting station and airport), then ASE should NOT be interpolating or looking for area weather stations as it seems to do at CYUL? Is there something special about CYUL that s causing this? Thanks for looking at this.Rob. November 15, 201015 yr Hi Rob,Unless I am misunderstanding you let me try and explain what I think you are seeing. The Lock to Destination option only refers to the weather conditions being set/locked in FSX. In ASE the closest station to your location in FSX will still be shown, for example, on the Report Screen. And this is going to depend on the distances you are from the station.Because you correctly processed a plan, ASE knows your destination weather station and will prevent this station's weather from updating.

I have not seen this happen at other airports, maybe something unusual about the layout at CYUL and nearby weather stations superceding the CYUL METAR in ASE?Rob. November 17, 201015 yr Author Hi Jim,I dont remember the specifics, but the METAR for CYUL was NOT being depicted in FSX, FSX was showing weather from the other station - I assume it is nearby the airport.I can do another test tonight and give you specifics if needed.Rob.
