John, I believe you need to format the drive before Windows will recognize it. Do so under Disk Management - (make sure you select the right disk!)

Hi kendall, I cant see the second drive... Actually I see: C Drive "O"..... Drive "1".... and DVD Burner.... I should right click on the drive "1" then look for the word "format" right? But the only option I see are: "Convert to Dynamic Disk", "Convert to GPT disk", Offline Properties, and Help

Hi John, to the right of the disk one tab, another window will list health status of the disk etc., right click there and select format. Disk O should list the following Healthy (Boot, Page File, Primary Partition). Check to see it's now visable in My Computer.

  1. Before you can format the drive you must create a partition.
  2. Create a single partition spanning the entire disk.
  3. Do not convert the parition to "dynamic".

Cheers,- jahman.

In bios, make sure the 2nd HD is recognised. As the 2nd drive is on a connector not in use, set the new drive to auto. If it is still not Available to format under disk management, make sure:1: it's plugged into a sata 3GBs port not a 6GBs port. (3Gbs is normally blue on asus mobos.)2: make sure all connections to HD are firm and to motherboard are also firm. 3: make sure you have admin. Rights. 4: Make sure it is a SATA HD and not a IDE or SCSi drive. If none of these help, something not right. Whether it's your windows or your 2nd HD.Oh and if it's a velociraptor, try formating with WD tools. If it's an SSD you need the drivers installed.

---- And, do I need to set-up anything under the Bios to make it visible?---- Chris, how do I set the HD to "Auto"...is it in the BIOS ?The second Drive is being recognized under the "main" tab within BIOS.. If I uninstall it, it goes away...When connecting it to the motherboard do I need to follow the sata ports in order (1,2,3, etc) or can I try another port to connect it to the MOBO--- except the 6GBs, of course?

In the bios, where the list of Hard Drives are, you need to make sure all the drives are at auto, or Enabled. Sata ports don't need to be in order. Now that it's recognised by bios, get WDTools on your computer, and use that to format the drive for use. It will be available on the western digital website.

Hi Chris..You have been very, very helpful and appreciate that tremendously. I also want to thank the other folks for their input, as well.I will follow your recommendations, tonight, and see how it goes.... I've spent big bucks on this new computer, and do not want to get impatient..I am afraid to get mad...When I get mad I turn green...and I may be inclined to throw the whole computer from the 21st floor of my apartment (well, it's only 5 floors but it seems like 21 floors) :P Thanks, again !!!!

Gents: Issue has been solved....I had to right click on the "Black Bar" then click on "New Simple Volume" and follow the Wizard. Goodness it took me some trouble...I followed your advises..Special thanks ot Chris...I also visited WD website and the rest of the answers...---- All right this is just the begining; you will see me here with more questions...Now...All software Installations.....Next, tweaks.....Next install Controls....Next....Fill-up the tanks with gas....Next Start Engines, and Away we gooooooo !

Haha. Glad you got it sorted. Any questions, come straight here and don't hesitate to ask. Enjoy.
