October 21, 200322 yr After loading a Flight Plan I take off and follow ATC instructions. However often the ATC instructions doesn't follow the GPS flight path. Which should I follow?
October 21, 200322 yr ATC, Right after take-off ATC has you doing their thing to get you out of the airports airspace. It will get you turned in the correct direction. Or they will give you "turn right XXX climb xxxxx, and resume own navigation" This is where you take over. http://www.flightsimnetwork.com/dcforum/User_files/3e72a43942b48d2b.jpg There is a fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness".- unknown "My daddy gives me up, to fight for you"- a US Military Members Child

October 21, 200322 yr .. and then when you get to the other end, ATC will give you vectors for landing (either ILS or visual) that are often vastly different than the GPS track (or real life approaches per the STAR plate). That really ticks me off. Flying the West Coast of the US I've been routed into both LA and San Jose via paths that take me dangerously close to high terrain, and would never be flown at those low approach altitudes. Maybe for FS10 we could hope for better adherance to the published paths for IFR aircraft.Keith
October 21, 200322 yr A fix for this while still using FS9: flying in multiplayer networks like VATSIMWell.. hey, it has helped, at least me ;)
October 22, 200322 yr Unless you want to be escorted by a couple-a F16s, I'd suggest always ATC. (Word is that this escorting feature will be available in FS12.....those of you who like to Igore the Default ATC...Beware!!).;)
