December 1, 201015 yr Hi guys!Yesterday I went for a flight in the J41 from ESSA-LZIB and evrything went just fine. Today I'm currently on my way back (LZIB-ESSA) but for some reason the J41 seems to have lost much of it's power. I noticed during the climb to my cruise level which is FL190 that between FL150-FL190 it took ages (using IAS @ 170 knots) and when finally reaching FL190 although I'm at the very limit of exceeding the EGT limits my IAS currently is just about 200 knots where I normally need to pull back on the throttle not to overspeed. Also I can't bring the torque higher than about 61 to avoid exceeding the EGT limits where I normally have the torque set at about 65-67.Not sure what might be wrong but I'm sure there's something I missed although I can't think of what. Below is a screenshot showing what I belive is most of the relevant instruments and current values.

December 1, 201015 yr Are you flying with engine anti-icing on? The ice protection has a profound impact on engine performance. I see that the Icing AoA light is on... I had done a flight in which I had to constantly toggle it on and off because of the icing conditions and I was cruising at much the same speed you are in this picture.
December 1, 201015 yr Author Yea, I'm positive the start locks had been removed so maybe it was due to using anti-ice then. However I just landed and the performance slowly increased during flight.
December 1, 201015 yr Did you change weights significantly? Did the weather change? RSR has noted that the plane performs like crap in the heat. Just trying to elliminate the variables. Doug Orvis PP-ASEL-IA (USA), Based at KHEF Picture courtesy of Kyle Rodgers
December 1, 201015 yr Author The weather didn't change that much and yes, I did some changes to the weights - I left with full fuel tanks and for that reason I only took 10 PAX instead of 20...maybe had something to do with it.Anyways one time is 0 times so hopefully everything will be back to normal on next flight and if not I'll dig deeper into it.Thanks for your input and tips though!
December 1, 201015 yr Seems to me like you've got some strong tailwind... IAS isn't really relevant for cruise check your groundspeed, as long as you manage to keep away from stall...Other explanation is Anti-ice ON, it decreases dramatically the climbing perfs.Sds.F.Lanker
