RXP-500 Radar for the Carenado Caravan(?)

Featured Replies

Hello All ----Seems like everyone is really enjoying their Caravan flying ---- I for one sure am. A great model. In line with much of my flying, which is done under IFR conditions in inclement weather, I would sure like to improve upon the stock radar in the Caravan.I use the Reality XP 500 in many of my other flight line members, but in most cases have to use the 2D pop up version.Am wondering if anyone have gone through the replacement of the stock radar and dropped in the XP500 ???? It would really look nice on the panel in place of the existing radar and would add great functionality improvement to weather situation knowledge given how well it works with FSX weather. Any comments, experience, etc. greatly appreciated. Many Thanks in Advance --- Bob Big%20Grin.gif

Hello !I just checked on the Reality-XP website. For now there's no Caravan panel retrofit for FSX:http://www.reality-xp.com/community/index.phpBut if it's like FS9, it should be possible to add the WX500. Did you already find the default weather radar inside your Carenado panel.cfg file ?Happy flying ! :(

Hello MdMax ---- thanks for the reply. I have located the radar gauge in the panel.cfg file, and tried some experiments with replacement, but to no success. It is going to take someone with a bit more knowledge of virtual cockpit structure than myself to come up with a solution that is optimum. I am sure it can be done, but will take someone who has been through the process before. If I come across anything, I will post it.Thanks Again ---- Big%20Grin.gif

Hello Again MdMax ---I have put a good bit of time into trying to carry out a replacement of the Carenado radar. I have followed the methods used by others to do replacements of other instruments and systems and it will not work. Removal of the Carenado radar causes the VC panel (not the instruments) to vansish which does not happen during the replacement of other systems as noted by others apparently.I am not sure what Carenado has done in this design, but it prevents their radar from being replaced. Sad, because it is one of the very few things in the VC that is useless (functionality). It would be an excellent cockpit with a functional radar, from my perspective.Anyway, if you hear or see anything where someone has conquered this issue, please post !!!!Thanks Again --- Big%20Grin.gif
