AIAardvark planes and FSX

Featured Replies

Dear All,I have just started to use FSX, and wanted to enhance AI traffic. I have obtained some AI planes which I used in FS2004 and wanted to carry them forward to FSX. I wanted to make sure that those AI planes will work properly in FSX. When I tested an AI aircraft in FSX (in this case an AIA B767-400), I cannot get the repaint to show up in the FSX. Before this, I have of course modified the aircraft.cfg so that it is up to date with the format used in FSX, and used AirEd to edit the air file so that it will show up in the aircraft selection menu.I can get the AIA plane to show in the aircraft selection screen, but in FSX, I only get the model airplane without any skin/repaint. Do I miss something here? Any help would be appreciated.FYI, I use FSX + Acceleration Pack, Win7 64 bit Home Premium. Thanks and regards

FYI - Editing the.air file (as we did in FS2004) will have no affect upon the aircraft displaying or not on the aircraft selection dialogue. FSX instead uses the presence or absence of a "valid" Panel folder to make that determination. If your setup supports DX10 preview, try turning it off and see if the aircraft skins now display properly.

Dear Opa,Thank you for your reply. So, AirEd edit no longer has any effect to aircraft appearing/not appearing in aircraft selection menu. Thanks for the info. Yes, I have included a panel and a sound folder to the aircraft. I will try turning off the DX10 preview, and see how it goes.Regards

That is correct - in fact, a "true" FSX .air file will not even have a line 105 - which was the line in the FS2004 .air file which we could edit. You will see it of course in FS2004 aircraft which have been ported over to use in FSX but as previously stated, line 105 is not used in FSX..A Panel is never needed in an AI aircraft as we never see the cockpit of such aircraft.
