October 24, 200322 yr Is there a system to alert us to ATC messages directed at our aircraft when flying through crowded skies?Maybe a warning sound that I haven't learned how to activate? With many aircraft in my vicinity, and consequently a great number of instructions from ATC, I sometimes miss instructions intended for me.Is there an answer other than constant concentration while listening to ATC all the time?
October 24, 200322 yr You can lower ATC traffic in the settings...that may help...Otherwise, messages intended to you are green, while other messages are yellow.
October 24, 200322 yr I must have my (FS2002) configured differently than both of you. The only messages I ever see are in the pop up box. I have text turned off so when I see a pop up box I know they're talking to me. I just listen for my callsign.ATC messages can be configured from the settings/Air Traffic Control menu. I see mine is set to automatically open the ATC box and no text messages.
October 24, 200322 yr I didn't know that the colour of the text could be helpful in that way...........thanks.
October 24, 200322 yr In the aircraft.cfg file, I have changed the flight number of all my aircraft to the last 4 digits of my phone number, then it is easy to recognize your plane when you hear ATC.NigelVancouver
October 24, 200322 yr Interesting idea. I have all of my non-airlines set to GP (Golf Papa - because I play golf) 009, because I like to hear them say "zero, zero, niner".
October 25, 200322 yr In FS9 you can open the kneeboard and click on the headphone key and only ATC messages to you will be displayed. Not sure if this works in FS2K2 never open kneeboard very much. Though unless your running two monitors then the kneeboard will be in the way of the panel. :( :-outta http://www.flightsimnetwork.com/dcforum/User_files/3e72a43942b48d2b.jpg There is a fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness".- unknown "My daddy gives me up, to fight for you"- a US Military Members Child
October 25, 200322 yr Hi--you might try the "Auto Open" configuration option for the ATC window. Uncheck the "ATC Text" option below it, in the ATC menu. That way your ATC window will only appear when ATC has given YOU an instruction, to which YOU have to reply. I use MyTraffic, set to 80% (which keeps the skies quite crowded, and the frequencies pretty busy), and it seems to work out great for me so far.It avoids the annoyance of having to see the window pop up every few seconds, when ATC communicates with another plane, and vice versa, and functions as a great "alert" mechanism. It also seems to lend an additional measure of realism to the sim.
