Shine Effect on Paintkit?

Featured Replies

Hey, I am a repainter and a while back I found this forum post whilst i was researching bare metal:http://forums.flight...ight=Bare+MetalI can do bare metal no worries, its the actual effect on the paintkit i want to know how to do? See how he made it appear to have shine on the paintkit itself. I usually just add shine with an alpha layer, but I would like to add this shine effect to my paints too...Now, I tried to figure it out by myself and I came close I think. I added a layer mask and then put a bilinear gradient on parts of the plane and it gives it that effect, but not as good as this example? So does anyone know how to do it as good as this one? Thanks, Connor

I think you are working in the right direction its allways a matter of experimenting with filters and layer-properties.Personally I do not like this kind of gloss effect , it gives the same awfull result as shadows under wings and tailwings.Never paint dynamic effects. The word itself is clear "dynamic" .Things painted on the diffuse never get dynamic. For shine we have the speculars and the alphas.Just my 2 cts.RegardsLeen de Jager
