  1. I take it if we add FSX:Boxed to our steam directory we can't access the new Steam multiplayer? Nevertheless might as well buy it for £3.99
  2. Thanks for that, I'll keep trying and reading up on it until I get it right. Thanks, maybe I will. I know the CS and QW are very similar as they both replicate the real 757 pretty well. It wouldn't surprise me if the operation was almost the same. Edit: I tried again, and this time pressed Lnav and Vnav on quickly before i was out of the 3 mile range. The aircraft followed the SID (because of Lnav) and climbed to 6000 ft (Transition). Now I'm not sure whether it climbed and stayed at 6000 because it was programmed to in the SID (6000 is the SID altitude) or whether it was because I put 6000 in as the transition altitude? I still dont quite understand Vnav and how it manages thrusts for climb e.t.c. I was under the impression that when Vnav was engaged, it would maintain the climb thrust needed for the climb speed programmed in the FMC (obeying the 250 under 10000 rule of course) because the manual says "At 1000ft your engines will automatically reduce to climb thrust". But when I have Vnav engaged, it follows the altitudes I dial in on the MCP, so I am in control of the altitude via the MCP dial??
  3. @NGX, thanks I thought that was the case. @LarryRF, Thank you very much. I was right in thinking that LNav was the lateral navigation and followed the path, and that VNav was the climb then, that's good to know. I know my way around everything else about the A/P that is on a default planes MCP, like Heading and Altitude hold, Nav/GPS, Speed holds e.t.c. It just the new FMC related things that were confusing me (LNav, VNav, EPR, and three A/P buttons). Which leads me to the problem I had when I tried to use it, no matter what A/P button I pressed only the left one came on, and for some reason LNav wouldn't come on? @PIC007 I have been through the manual but as far as I can see it doesn't explain the MCP buttons, it mainly focuses on programming and operating the FMC itself. I will read through it again to try and clear it up and try to see if I can learn how to fly on the A/P. Thanks all for your help so far, :)
  4. Hi all, I recently got the QualityWings 757 and am happy with it, but I need some help with the FMC/Navigation. I know my way around the FMC fine and can easily program it for a flight, including SIDs and STARs (as its an easy FMC to operate), but I dont have the slightest clue how to get the plane to fly the route I punched in. Basically, what I'm saying is that I dont know how to operate the autopilot on the "Autoflight mode Control Panel" as they call it. It has all these buttons like Autothrottle Arm, VNav, LNav, e.t.c. I got as far as Arming the throttle, increasing thrust and pressing the EPR button so my throttles would hold the takeoff thrust. I had VNav and the A/P on, and it seemed to be climbing by itself, but I soon realised I didn't know how to fly this thing yet, so I left it to do some reading/forum posting. Is there anyone who could help me learn how the A/P works on the 757, any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks, :)
  5. Thanks for the advice my friend, it was very useful. I suppose I'll just keep experimenting until I get it right :)Thanks,
  6. Hey guys, I recently got back into FSX and repainting, but I would still love to learn the techniques of the great painters. Now when I first got into repainting, I quickly mastered slapping paint onto an aircraft, giving it a simple "matt" look. Like this: http://www.flightsim...+ADV.jpg&idx=20(not my repaint btw, so no offence to who's ever it is)Then I learnt about Dirt, Shine e.t.c and my repaints improved from the "matt" look to something better, (no screenshot i'm afraid as I have lost all my old repaints)But I am really interested in learning the techniques to make repaints similar to POSKY quality. I'm not sure but POSKY repaints seem to be semi-photoreal, but I'm not sure if thats right? i.e. they have shine that isn't created with the alpha layer, it looks like a photo but high quality.http://img215.images...s744bodylt.png/ (It is clearly visible on the tail here)That effect is also on these repaint and many more: http://www.freeskypr...ysian-airlines/I have experimented with gradients and can get a similar effect, but not quite what I want. Am I on the right lines with gradients or not? Thanks, Connor
  7. Hello fellow painters,A while back, a few flight simmers with FSX developing experience decided to get together and develop a much loved aircraft in the aviation world, the McDonnell Douglas MD-11. We all loved the plane and realised that there was a gap in the freeware market for the MD-11. We looked into it and discovered the only reasonably complete free MD-11 out there was the freeware Overland one. We contacted Overland and they were happy to work with us. They gave us complete permission to make "MAJOR" changes to the freeware MD-11 and release it for FSX.We have edited almost every imaginable aspect, including flight dynamics, contact points, textures and a complete revamp of the Virtual Cockpit. However, due to personal problems within the team, around January time, work completely halted on the MD-11. It is almost complete, and the model itself only needs a few minor tweaks before it is ready for release. However, we are lacking in the repaint department. We began creating a few of the many repaints we have planed but then the work had to stop. So we are looking for skilled repainters to help paint the remaining livery's for us. Our team have "reasonable" repainting skills but nothing on some of the guys in these forums, so thats why we decided to ask if anyone would be willing to help us out. You would of course get complete credit for the repaints and there is no limit on how many people can repaint for us. There is a great paintkit for the aircraft and some great livery's to paint, both modern and retro. You can see our work here: http://www.wix.com/fsgraphic/homeSo if you have a free moment and would like to help us, we would greatly appreciate it. You can contact us either through our website or at: fsgraphics@live.co.ukThanks,The FSG Team
  8. Hey, I am a repainter and a while back I found this forum post whilst i was researching bare metal:http://forums.flight...ight=Bare+MetalI can do bare metal no worries, its the actual effect on the paintkit i want to know how to do? See how he made it appear to have shine on the paintkit itself. I usually just add shine with an alpha layer, but I would like to add this shine effect to my paints too...Now, I tried to figure it out by myself and I came close I think. I added a layer mask and then put a bilinear gradient on parts of the plane and it gives it that effect, but not as good as this example? So does anyone know how to do it as good as this one? Thanks, Connor
  9. Its all okay now, All I had to do was delete the "Traffic_skAI_Traffic_v2_3" file and all my default traffic is now back. Thanks, Connor :)
  10. Just thought I'd liven this thread up again, I have the same problem as you, but this time with SKai Traffic. However, it is still the same basically. I "un installed" Skai Traffic and for some reason the traffic still appears. This is probably because the Skai models are still in my aircraft folder. So I have these in my Scenery/World/Scenery folder:TrafficAircraft.bgl Traffic_Avalon.bgl.offTraffic_skAI_Traffic_v2_3 ...And my fsx.cfg is the same layout as yours, (without the ORBX traffic one) And I get no default traffic? So what do I need to rename to get it working? Thanks, Connor
