Radeon Question...

Featured Replies

Well, I did it. I purchased a Radeon 9800 XT.I installed it. and upgraded the drivers to the ATI website, version 3.8And I have a question...When ever I change views, either by pulling down a menu, changing aircraft and switch from FWD to LH FWD and by toggling between views (cockpit to VC to Spot to Tower, etc) I get several seconds of the monitor flashing between the old view and a completely black screen, a flickering, if you will...Is this normal for a Radeon? It didn't do it with my Nvidia. Thought I'd ask before I take this thing back...BobL

Hi Bob,For some reason the flashing screen "bug" wasn't fixed with the latest ATI Catalyst drivers (3.8). There is, however, a fix for this "bug" which can be found over at www.driverheaven.net. Here's the link to the download page: http://www.driverheaven.net/downloads/index4.htmDepending on your operating system, the file for: WinXP: rad_w2kxp_omega_2496b 98 & Me: rad_w9x_omega_2622 Installation is VERY simple. Uninstall your ATI Control Panel from the add/remove programs menu and then install these updated (fixed) drivers right over top your existing ATI drivers. Reboot and when you start up FS the screen flicker will be gone. I've been using drivers from this author for quite some time and have never been disapointed by his/her work.Give them a go!Good luck!Mikehttp://www.members.shaw.ca/madamo/boeingsig.jpg
