737-800 repaint
MikeAdamo replied to Azertylolilou's topic in The Paint Shop - The Aircraft Painter's Forum - How ToHi Leen, I appreciate you stepping in an providing your input. There's a little bit of agree to disagree in this thread in relation to what is socially acceptable wait times when people post a question and get a reply so I won't beat that drum any further. For the sake of those who may have the same issue as Julien here's what he was asking for and here's what I suggested (you pretty much nailed everything I said): Juien made a texture/brush in photoshop and wanted to use that to fill in some of the textures on the 737-800 but when he did that some of the them weren't lining up properly and they looked squished (as was apparent in his screen shots). I replied to him saying to make a larger texture; one that would cover a little more of the area he wanted to paint and then trim the excess using the lasso tool or, he could also try CTRL-CLICK on the base texture to select that layer and past his texture INTO the part which would allow him to move the texture around for better aesthetics and symmetry. 737-800 repaint
MikeAdamo replied to Azertylolilou's topic in The Paint Shop - The Aircraft Painter's Forum - How ToInteresting John. I asked 1 question, got a good answer from the OP and made a suggestion. You on the other hand made it a point to assume the OP is "self-entitled" especially given the fact he stated at the beginning of his post that English wasn't his first language but he's trying. Imagine that. I suggested he type in french because I know the language and it would probably be much easier for him to articulate what it was he was needing help. God forbid you try Google Translate but then again, judging by your initial reply, I don't think you were very motivated to help anyway. You hit the nail on the head here - "just shows the self-entitlement that some have here" Mike

737-800 repaint
MikeAdamo replied to Azertylolilou's topic in The Paint Shop - The Aircraft Painter's Forum - How ToPas de problème Julien!

MikeAdamo replied to Azertylolilou's topic in The Paint Shop - The Aircraft Painter's Forum - How ToHi Julien, When you say you've got a graphic bug could you explain what you mean with a little more detail? Je parle et je lis français alors s'il vous plaît taper en français si vous avez besoin. Thanks, Mike Jezz John, the time and effort you put into your reply you could have easily just asked for more info and skipped the whole lecture.

Cloud brightness dawn/dusk/night
Pe11e released a shader mod that helped with this and he's now about to release a new version with a GUI and sliders to fine tune the adjustments. Takes all the work out of tweaking numbers one at a time. Should be out by the weekend (as far as the last update says).

UT2 Unusable in P3D V3.2
Interesting you're having this issue. I followed the great manual instructions Poppet provided and haven't had any issues. I don't like the idea of having to keep the migration tool "enabled" just to get UT2 running so maybe run through her guide and compare it to your install and see if there's anything you need to tweak?

Couple random shots - PMDG 737-600
Hi All, Went sifting through my P3D screen shot folder and found these two shots I took while testing out the v3.2, ASN, and REX updates. V3.2 so far on my system has been a fantastic update. Finally able to use the PMDG 737NGX with my P3D sliders way over to the right with no stuttering. Enjoy! Mike Disclaimer - these shots were edited in PhotoShop (Contrast, Curves, Saturation) so this isn't a 100% accurate "in-game" shot.

Laws on publishing photos of distraught relatives?
Hi Ethan, While I agree with you on allowing these people some privacy in their moment of distress, there is no law that I'm aware of that prevents a photographer from taking pictures in a public space. If you're singling out an individual I would think the rules of getting a model release would apply but if you're shooting a massive crowd I don't believe you have to get a release from each person in the photo. This is from the ACLU page and applies to the US so not sure if the same applies elsewhere: "When in public spaces where you are lawfully present you have the right to photograph anything that is in plain view. That includes pictures of federal buildings, transportation facilities, and police. Such photography is a form of public oversight over the government and is important in a free society." "the mental state of surviving relatives isn't really a public matter." Actually, it's part of the story so in a sense, whether you agree with it or not, strong emotions help tell the story and capturing those strong emotions is important.

Does it fix stutters?
Hi Bob. I was helping a young simmer out on the P3D facebook group and he was having issues with slow loading textures and stutters. Turned out it was the slot his video card was sitting in. Instead of the PCI slot running at x16 it was only running at x1. He called the manufacturer and they did some testing and ended up having to RMA his board. I'm not sure if this was something already suggested in your other thread but may be worth a look. He used GPU-z to monitor his card and that's where he saw the slot was only running at x1. Other than that, I would agree with the consensus so far in this thread that the DX10 fixer won't help eliminate stutters. Good luck! Mike

major stutter to single digit frame drops P3d version 3
Hmmm....if click spots are giving you stutters you can disable the tool tips. Can you send me your p3d.cfg file by PM through the forums? Again, have patience. We'll figure this out

major stutter to single digit frame drops P3d version 3
Thanks for the screen shots. Try turning off the bloom settings all together and see if you still get the stutters and try locking your frame rate to 30. Apply the tweaks LM suggest from their learning center as a start and you'll need an affinity mask setting as well. Are you running hyper threading on or off?

major stutter to single digit frame drops P3d version 3
Hey Stampee. Sorry to hear you're having some hiccups. One thing I noticed about the stuttering had to do with bloom settings. I turned bloom off and tested and noticed smoother flight especially in areas of clouds. I slowly brought bloom up until the sim started stuttering and then dropped it back down and now I have it at 0.70 and it's been pretty stable. Could you post up some screen shots of your P3D settings and also tell us which P3D tweaks you applied? We'll get you through this and into smooth flight, you just have to have some patience :-) Mike

An Addiction?
You're in good company! I go through this almost on a yearly basis and judging by the twitches and ticks I've been having lately, I may be about to download P3D v3.1 and start the dance of a million add-on downloads.

Success!! Those are some very impressive looking shots and I can only imagine how things are going to look as things progress. Cheers!

Outerra: Wide screen high resolution
Strange. The images don't show up for me as well. I tried a test and using the link to the 1280x392 screen shot (s15.postimg.org/nsoj8cq22/screen_1384899773.jpg), nothing shows up. If I use the link to the full screen version (src="http://s15.postimg.org/9z06jaxgp/screen_1384899773.jpg"), the image displays properly. I even checked using Chrome on my Android and I can't see the images. Not too sure why it won't display the smaller version but will the full sized one.

Those shots are from 2013 and because it looks like you're trying to link directly to the shots on the Outerra forms they won't show up here.

What Screen Shot Program to use with P3D
I just use the "V" key to capture the screen shot then use Photoshop to edit and save as a JPG. Any image editing program would work (depending on what type of editing you want to do) and many folks use GIMP which is a great and powerful image editing package.

ASN introducing major stuttering in P3D 2.5
I don't understand your statement. You say you've narrowed it down to something else yet appears you're still pointing the finger at ASN. I'm confused!? Huge drop in frames associated with clouds isn't an issue with ASN, it's an issue with the clouds. Have you ever changed the following line in your cloud.fx file - GetScreenQuadPositions( quad, width*0.5, height*0.5 ); to something other than the default value of 0.5? Open the Cloud.fx file in notepad and search for "GetScreenQuadPositions" and tell us what the values are in your file.

ASN introducing major stuttering in P3D 2.5
Hi, When you turn off ASN, the weather theme also goes away which is probably why you're not seeing any stuttering. I've been using ASN since v2.4 and can't recall ever seeing stutters due to ASN consuming large amounts of resources. Have you tried uninstalling ASN and re-installing to see if the issue persists? Are you using Sparsegrid Supersampling through Nvidia Inspector at all? If you are, this is known to cause performance impacts when in cloudy conditions so try changing that setting to see if your stutters go away. A couple of setting changes you can make in ASN to see if the stuttering reduces is to uncheck the "Force BKN to 7/8ths" and uncheck the "Enhanced overcast conditions". If ASN was truly causing stuttering you would see it every time it's enabled and not just in certain situations (The problem starts to appear in air and above clouds). Mike

P3D Randomness
Thanks for the comments folks!! @Steve - The AA is in fact the PMDG P3D version and the paint was downloaded from the Avsim library. I'm not goimg to be near my pc for a couple of days so can't tell you the authors name. @flyerboy - I'm really liking the performance in P3D compared to FSX which has kept me from moving back over to FSX. Overall, I'm really happy with everything P3D offers and the fact it's being continually developed keeps me with it.
