December 24, 201015 yr HiI bought a GTX 460 to replace my 8800GTX that burned out.The new card is seated correctly in its slot (same slot as the old one came out off) and the two power plugs are connected and secured.Problem is when I reboot and try to install the driver I get an error message that says it cant find the card.Ive tried reinstalling the card but the system wont recognise it. Have I cocked something up or is the new card a dud?TIADannielle "And when the band your in starts playing different tunes, I'll see you on the dark side of the moon"
December 24, 201015 yr Dannielle, I doubt the card is a dud, otherwise you probably wouldnt be able to get to the driver installation in the first place.A few basic things to check: You card may require a different amount of power to your previous card. Follow the installation manual and make sure you have the neccessary power adapters plugged into the card:I'm guessing windows has installed its own drivers for the card, and that you can boot into Windows OK on the computer. Try unistalling the drivers via the device manager, and then use a driver cleaner such as this one http://downloads.guru3d.com/Guru3D---Driver-Sweeper-(Setup)-download-1655.html to remove any old drivers that may be causing your problem. After reboot you can then go ahead and install the latest drivers from the Nvidia website. (Make sure you download the correct drivers for the card, and for the version of windows that you are using (Vista/W7 - 32bit/64bit etc)I hope this helps. Started of cost 300 bucks ended up close to a grand. The good bit is FSX now goes like buggery!!! no stutters no lock ups and I can have real time weather without taking a hit to frame rates. I'm well pleased with it.Thank you for you assist.Dannielle "And when the band your in starts playing different tunes, I'll see you on the dark side of the moon"
