Becoming an airline pilot.
Hi Ross,It's hard for me to give you proper advice as i'm unexperienced, and I believe the market is pretty unpredictable at the moment and I would be afraid of giving the wrong advice to you. What I will say is that I am 23 years old and I am starting an integrated course with CTC Wings next month. The highest qualifications I have are GCSE's because I chose to go straight into a good job opportunity that arose as I was finishing my GCSE's. Whilst I believe academic qualifications show that you are well educated, hardworking etc it doesn't neccesarily mean that you have the right stuff for a career as a pilot. Some integrated courses don't require anything higher than a good set of GCSE's, and some airlines are taking away the "2 A-Levels in Maths and Physics" requirement as well. Most notibly British Airways no longer list it as a requirement as a direct entry pilot.Which ever way you choose make sure you do plenty of research, and don't let too much negativity that you read put you off, but definately take it account and understand what the career involves.Good luck! :(

Question for ASUS P8P67 family owners
Samwise replied to flytrumpet767's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcI don't own that motherboard, but most overclockers/overclocking guides will tell you to keep it simple and leave all types of power savings functions off to prevent any problems.Regards,

the new "Microsoft Flight" isn´t almost done?
I really don't think that comment proves MS Flight is written from the ground up. I'm willing to bet a lot of money on it, and from what I have seen it looks very similar to FSX but with better graphics. For me, a whole, newly written program would look something along the lines of Outerra. "Approaching" simply means they're rethinking how to present the program to us, rather than writing completely new code...

Xplane ?
It's not stupid at all. Yes X-Plane is technically more accurate than FSX and yes it is certified by the authorities, but compare the different market for both sims. Why exactly do you think there are not loads of high fidelity aircarft add-ons for X-Plane? It's because the Microsoft Flight Sim series has such a bigger crowd of users.PMDG are here to make money, never forget that (and luckily for us they are also passionate about providing the best simulations). Developing for X-Plane is a whole different game in terms of systems modelling etc and so it would be a huge expense for them without the support of thousands of X-Plane users waiting to buy their next product. However, saying all this, it does make me wonder if people would start shifting over to X-Plane if PMDG starting developing products for that sim. Personally, I have tried the X-Plane demo and didn't get on with it. I blame that on the fact that I'm so used to the Microsoft sims. However, I'm definately going to give the new X-Plane a whirl if a demo becomes available.

Externalities and the NGX
This is actually something I was wondering about the other night. How long will it be until Boeing ask PMDG to model some Level-D Class simulator systems? The newest breed of CAE NG sims are truely, mindboggingly amazing but I'm sure PMDG could do a better job!!

Tower 2011
Scoob, I'm sorry mate but I think you took what I said completely the wrong way. It was actually a genuine question! From your previous comment it sounded like you were stating that the O.P. was wrong by saying the game had only a top down view. However, as a previous Tower Sim customer of yours, I will be seeking proof that the new game holds of on its promises before committing to buy. Nothing against you but I'm just about to start a full time intergrated ATPL course and I need to reserve as much money as I can :(

Tower 2011
Are you saying that there is a 3d view? All the screenshots show a top down view..?Still to this day, no one has topped BAO's "Tower". God I wish I could get that beast of a game to run on Windows 7! :(

Unbelievable
Yeah I could do that no problem!

Thanks for the heads up. Looks really great!

U-2 Climb Rate
Infact, in the UK the standard transition altitude outside controlled airspace is 3000ft, and so in the UK, the lowest flight level is FL35.

Add On tips please
Billy, if your after a huge boost of immersion, you need to get Aerosoft's AES. Information available here and good video showing what its all about .The program is free, but you have to buy credits in order to activate AES at add-on airports. Regards

the new "Microsoft Flight" isn´t almost done?
What if it meets your criteria but is still based on the old game engine? :(

the new "Microsoft Flight" isn´t almost done?
Judging by the screenshots available it really does not look like a brand new platform. It's purely speculative of course as we don't have any rock solid information about 'Flight' yet.My own prediction is that Flight will be a better performing, more richer (better graphics, weather etc) version of FSX and backwards compatibility won't be as much of an issue as it was between FSX and FS9.However I do hope it is a brand new platform as I think its definately needed...

Trouble with youtube after installing FSX
You could try resetting IE's original settings by doing the following:Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > (Reset Internet Explorer Settings) ResetThis will probably delete all your cooky/history/favourite data. Just a warning!

What are nVidia CUDA Cores Used For?
Samwise replied to Swoop's topic in Video Hardware: Monitors | Multi-Monitors | Video Cards | Drivers etcHi Mark. Have a look at this link. It should give you the basics of what CUDA is and how it's used in a much more simpler form than I could explain!http://gamecreator.blogspot.com/2008/06/what-is-cuda.htmlFrom what I can see, a program has to be specifically adapted to utilise CUDA to it's full potential; something that FSX can not. However someone with a more specialised knowledge might be able to help you more!

Hunt for a PERFECT PANEL 777!
Don't waste any money until PMDG release their T7. The other payware 777's are just not up to todays standards.

Weird A343 sound
Well I guess it also depends on where abouts you sit. It's amazing how much difference 5-10 seats can make.

Weird A343 sound
Before you touched down? Perhaps the main gear locking into place, or the gear doors closing after gear extension?

Trouble with youtube after installing FSX
You may want to have a look here, and through the other help pages in the same area for problems with video playback. Some of the info may help you narrow down the problem:http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/youtube/thread?tid=5b6f8b8b8014a6d6Regards

Trouble with youtube after installing FSX
No idea why. Although these sort of bugs are the reasons why I stay away from Chrome. Firefox all the way, especially their new beta.

Trouble with youtube after installing FSX
Hi Pieter. All I can really suggest is you perform an un-install of Adobe Flash Player, and then re-install the latest version from http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/Hope you can sort it!

Go-around and Autoland
Hi Iain. On the contrary, most of their filming is out the window. They sometimes concentrate on instruments when showing off a particular feature on the aircraft, which many will find extremely interesting and useful. Why don't you look at the many previews on their youtube channel to re-evaluate your oppinion on the dvds they provide as their are many great ones available and I'm sure you will be pleasantly surprised.Regards,
