March 1, 201115 yr Hi!I dont wanna to start a mess here and do not talk about the release.I am just asking about the compatible. if it´s possible to say!We are close to the release of "microsoft flight" and the NGX , at the same time.Isn´t this a bad thing for the costumer?Thx!
March 1, 201115 yr Not at all. Nothing is known about MSF, so even after it releases I would imagine a lot of people will hold off buying it till it gets the reviews they want or some basic addons are available. If addons will be possible, nothing is really known about MSF at this point. There will also be those who have their systems set up for fsx & don't want to start from scratch, especially the cockpit guys out there...In my opinion, even if MSF is the next great flight sim and allows for the 3rd party addons we're accustomed to running, aircraft, vatsim, etc., FSX will still be a very viable market for addons for a few, if not several years. Just look at how big the FS9 following is now. It'll be a long time before everyone gives up FSX.EDIT: MSF is reported to be a ground up new program, so one can safely assume FSX addons will not be compatible. March 1, 201115 yr EDIT: MSF is reported to be a ground up new program, so one can safely assume FSX addons will not be compatible.Judging by the screenshots available it really does not look like a brand new platform. It's purely speculative of course as we don't have any rock solid information about 'Flight' yet.My own prediction is that Flight will be a better performing, more richer (better graphics, weather etc) version of FSX and backwards compatibility won't be as much of an issue as it was between FSX and FS9.However I do hope it is a brand new platform as I think its definately needed... It's one of those "wait & see" things for me. If it runs more efficiently than FSX, AND takes advantage of modern hardware, AND supports 3rd party addons, AND still has a sim flavor to it as opposed to "airplane games" I will buy it. March 2, 201115 yr Author What if it meets your criteria but is still based on the old game engine? :(so, We keep the FSX, and we fly A LOT the NGX!Long living to the FSX... i think... NOT!New engine! New Stuff! Cheers!
March 11, 201115 yr My understanding is that Flight will be a purely online gameMikeRead the FAQs and you'll see that it's not Signed: Neil Keane
March 12, 201115 yr If you guys would read more details, you'd notice that they already stated MSF to be written from ground up, as old engine was simply rubbish. Tomasz Fiszer -- IFIYGD

March 13, 201115 yr Where? From the FAQ;"How does “Microsoft Flight” differ from “Flight Simulator?” Why the new name? What’s changed?A:With “Microsoft Flight” we’re approaching the virtual flight genre from the ground up, with the focus on the universal appeal of the experience of Flight. We believe the simplicity of “Microsoft Flight” perfectly captures that vision while welcoming the millions of existing Flight Simulator fans. The new “Microsoft Flight” retains the full fidelity simulation longtime fans have come to expect while offering all players a whole new look and feel, a wide range of new game play and challenges, persistent experiences and social connectivity."Time may prove them wrong, but that answers 2 questions right there. I'm willing to bet a lot of money on it, and from what I have seen it looks very similar to FSX but with better graphics. For me, a whole, newly written program would look something along the lines of Outerra. "Approaching" simply means they're rethinking how to present the program to us, rather than writing completely new code... March 16, 201115 yr Author I would not expect a completely new engine... to expensive!Probably (i dont know for sure) something better and more pretty. And ,let´s hope for something executable by any machine outside the NASA labs! (awful joke BTW)Cheers!
March 31, 201115 yr I unfortunately think Microsoft Flight is going to be more of an arcade type game not a sim. If you look at everything MS is doing right now its all for casual gamers. I feel this will be no different. A Walker
March 31, 201115 yr I've got some perfectly new Betamax players, if anyone's interested. I'll even throw in a copy of "Splash." Matt Cee
