Horizon Suspicions - can you do me a favour?

Featured Replies

I have a sneaking suspicion that something isn't quite right with the horizon in my FS9. It seems to be way too abrupt and doesn't blend in enough. Here's a picture of my horizon taken at YPAD, with clear weather theme at 'Day' time, heading 225, FL300. The date that the shot was taken was 28th of October 2003.http://kianlim.e-access.com.au/img/horizon.jpgIf you believe that you have a 'proper' horizon, can you please replicate that shot with the exact settings as I have listed above in your FS9 and post it here? (please press 'w' in cockpit view until you get the no instrument view).I'm just unsure as to whether this is a problem on my system or just what everyone sees. Thanks :)

I do not see anything wrong with this horizon. It looks like some real world horizon on an even not too clear day. In the real world you can get much sharper, abrupter horizons, e. g. on a sunny, dry, winter day or when it has cleared up after a heavy rainfall or after s storm.Wolfgang

Hey hey This looks about right but can I suggest you drop the visibilty down between 5 to 10 miles in the weather settings. Your horizon will dissapear completely into the haze. The other thing is this is clearly a sea bound flight which would increase the sharpness of the Horizon anyway.Just a thoughtWycliffe

Look for:New enviroment textures for FS2004, by Nils Danielsson 2003and New skytextures for FS2004 also by Nils Danielsson 2003.All skycolors have been given a less saturated lookAn "aura" has been added to the part of the sky around and below the sun. THis to create the effect of sunlight being reflected in water (or smog-) particles in the air. Fog colors has also been desaturated, creating a more realistic look.Much more blur and smoothness ;)Rob "Holland&Holland" de Vries http://www.emotipad.com/emoticons/Flying.gif"To go up, pull the stick back. Ok, that was a bad example. Here's a better(worst?) one:http://kianlim.e-access.com.au/img/horizon2.jpgI have noticed that it usually happens when I'm actually doing a flight, e.g. after some time.Does that still look normal? If it does, please tell me so, so that I can become less paranoid.

That is not normal, and I have to say I have never seen this on my flights. Perhaps this supports the flat earth theory.I mean who say's it's a ball anyway.Wycliffe

Water reflection does make this happen, disabling this gives a better blend.

Ok I gave the water reflections thing a go and it's still like that. Any other ideas please?
