December 26, 201015 yr Hi guys,I am interested in the NGX manuals but I had one question. Is cpdlc and acars covered in the manuals and how to use the systems? If so in which manual are they covered in?ThanksAnd Happy Holidays
December 26, 201015 yr Hi Shayan, after quickly thumbing through the manuals, the only mention of either systems I could find is in the FCOM Vol. 2 (Communications, 5.20.5) in a short description (1/2 page) of what ACARS is - nothing on how to use the system - and a brief mention in the limitations section in Vol. 1. Chapter 11.33 (FCOM Vol. 2) talks about Company Data Link, which I'm not sure if this is part of ACARS (anyone?) or something else entirely.CPDLC isn't mentioned at all (or at least I was unable to find it :( )Hope this helps a bit, happy holidays,Mike Ista
December 26, 201015 yr Author Thanks for the reply mike. Great help!Quote "talks about Company Data Link"I believe this is acars as acars is communication between the pilot (such as, dispatch, maintenance etc) and company where as cpdlc is pilot to the controller.I think. Thanks for taking the effort in finding the info! Greatly appreciated.Happy Holidays
December 26, 201015 yr Commercial Member These systems are pretty airline specific I think... The airline would add it on to the default Boeing manual material as a supplement I'd bet. Ryan MaziarzFor fastest support, please submit a ticket at http://support.precisionmanuals.com
December 27, 201015 yr These systems are pretty airline specific I think... The airline would add it on to the default Boeing manual material as a supplement I'd bet. That's exactly the case at the company I work for. (We operate a fleet of large and mid-size corporate aircraft.) Not all of our aircraft are equipped with AFIS, but for those that are, the operating manual is appended as an FAA - approved supplement to the aircraft's original FCOM.
