FSX Acceleration and Autogen

Featured Replies

I'm reinstalling FSX gold edition again because I recently upgraded to 64 bit (that and I'm looking for a better flight model than Arma II blink.gif ). I had two questions. Do most users nowadays use FSX Acceleration over the patched FSX? That question is also for developers making payware and whether it works on accel or not. My other question is about autogen. I used to fly tileproxy but the tile loading was too slow for my needs so i wanted to switch to freeware/payware scenery, including autogen. The thing is I don't know if my hardware is up to the task. I know a lot of users have core i7 CPUs and GPUs in SLI/CF. Well I have:1680x1050 monitorP35-DS3LQ6600 @3.4Ghz5850 stock clock, dedicated sound card, 500W PSU500GB HDD4GB DDR2, Windows 7 64-bit.I don't want to suddenly build a new computer but I wanted to ask how this build will handle specific buildings and autogen. If not, what do you think is holding me back? Thanks AVsim!

HelloI have the same CPU, although mine is not OC´ed (2,4Ghz). I´m using FSX gold with acceleration. I use a lot of payware scenery, traffic, weather and plane add-ons and sliders are on medium to high setting. FPS 20-25.BTW don´t install acceleration on a patched FSX. Acceleration contains both service packs so I would recommend a clean install.

OCed i7s are definitely something a lot of people use, but not SLI/CF cards - FSX is a CPU limited engine and multi-GPU has little effect.Acceleration and SP2 are essentially equivalent, they were both released at the same time and you install one or the other.
