Gauges Dark at Night in Flight1 PC-12

Featured Replies

I installed Flight1's Pilatus PC-12. Beautiful cockpit. But PFD/MFD, big GPS, and instrument cluster at far left of panel all go dark under anything but "day" conditions. I've installed latest Direct X, C++ Redistributables (2005, 2008, 2010), as well as all Windows XP updates. Please see attached photos. Only difference in settings is time of day.pc_12_day.jpgpc_12_night.jpgThanks,Jim

You'll have to turn the instrument lights on and they'll be "backlit." It's a separate switch from the panel lights - it's a button on the lower panel I think it's called.

The EADI and EHSI should be legible so there is probably a light switch or brightness setting that is turned off. However the darkness of the airspeed indicator was a bug mentioned in the Avsim review: http://www.avsim.com/pages/0308/Pilatus/PC12.htmMaybe this bug has since been fixed, though.Al

I appreciate the try... but it just gets wierder. When I turn on the instrument panel lights at the lower panel, the needles disappear off the gauges!Panel Lights On:panel_lts_on2.jpgPanel Lights Off (needles come back!):panel_lts_off2.jpg(Also---although I don't know if it's related---the altimeter is creeping up while I'm parked. Baro setting is changing...Jim

Thanks, Al. I read the review. You're right---the picture they show looks like the lighting I'm seeing, except that their EADI and EHSI are "on", while mine appear to be "off".Jim

I think if you get the two displays working it should be flyable even if the airspeed indicator is a bit dark (it's still readable). Unfortunately I don't own this plane so I don't know exactly how to fix that. Perhaps take a look through the manual if you haven't already and see if there are any other cockpit light switches or dimmer switch.

Huh. Well that takes the cake.... I run DX9, pedestrian nVidia card, and no problems like that.Have you tried the Flight1 forum?? I know it's not a hot new product, but someone should be able to sort this out.
