Future Boeing designations?

Featured Replies

I'm just curious of all of your thoughts. Personally, I'm kind of wondering whether the 7x7 line is dead. I mean, Boeing seems to be putting a lot of stock into the Sonic Cruiser project, and I wonder, do you think that that's what it's name will be? I'd like to see it as the 787, personally :D .

Hi,I strongly believe Boeing is working on some more serious projects such as the successor of the B737.They have start researches for its successor last year I believe. Greetings Minos

Wasn't the old Boeing SST going to be called 2707?Timothy

I think Boeing will always use some kind of numerical designation, but the 7X7 line isn't done with yet... ;)

Personally I hope the Sonic Cruiser does get finished and is a roaring success, because I don't know how we're expected to keep making advances in aerospace when basically all we do is add decks onto the planes and increase the size of the engines a little. Like I know its been said here before, I think the companies should work on going faster and farther, not on carrying more passengers.Scott

Tim,Yes sir, it was the 2707.I think the Sonic Cruiser will take over that title if they change it from "Sonic Cruiser".Boeing is also working on a new SST. They're part of the NASA team with a borrowed TU-144 (is that the number of the old Russian SST?) for testing. NASA is using it for the effects of high-level aircraft on the atmosphere (mostly the ozone layer).I think Boeing's been reading my posts about testing with the Concorde on that lucrative SFO/YSSY or PHNL/YSSY run! :-lol
