Smart Assembly CTD

Recommended Posts

Update C++: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=a7b7a05e-6de6-4d3a-a423-37bf0912db84Update DirectX (if you've installed a game recently it may have downgraded your direct x, but I doubt it): http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/resultsForProduct.aspx?displaylang=en&productID=9C954C37-1ED1-4846-8A7D-85FC422D1388Update FSUIPC: http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.htmlUpdate JRE to 6.25 (not JDK): http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html Smart Assembly seems to be .NET related. I know you said you did, but try updating the visual basic and .net runtimes:Visual Basic: http://support.microsoft.com/gp/vbruntime.NET: http://www.microsoft.com/net/download.aspxMake sure you have all the .NET runtimes installed, 1.1, 2, 3, 3.5, and 4. The LDS FMC crashed the sim if .Net 3 wasn't installed.
Frank - Installed and updated all of the above. Successfully flew long (six hour+) flights without a hitch. Then switched to default mode with FTX Central. Successfully completed the KPDX to KCLM flight without a hitch. After quitting FSX, went to NA mode in FTX and did the exact same flight plan again. CTD about 80 miles into the hop. So my next T/S step will be to ensure FTX Library is fully updated. If that doesn't work . . .

It almost sounds like your running out of memory. Are you doing these flights with a period of computer "off-time" (i.e. your computer is off) between flights, or one after another? It might be worth it to upgrade your RAM, and increase your virtual memory. How much RAM do you have and how much virtual memory? You have a LOT of addons, so a good amount of RAM is required (I'd give it a ballpark figure of 4+ GB, with 4 being the absolute minimum).EDIT: Smart Assembly is Java ERROR REPORTING by the way... Try this if all else fails: http://www.addictivetips.com/windows-tips/how-to-disable-error-reporting-in-windows-7/

Frank - Running 6 GB with Win 7 64 bit - but I have seen threads on the FSX board about common CTDs in the PNW near KSEA - which in my "test" flight from KPDX to KCLM I go by. A few suggestions on those threads concerning Orbx payware or OZx freeware airports causing the issue. Thanks for the tip on the Smart Assembly - still getting that dialog after the CTD. I do have many addons- but trying to recall what software was "added" to the mix when I first began to see these erros seven months ago is difficult.Scott
