Gents,After a much too long time playing around with PMDG planes on default airports, I got literally sick from it, the graphics annoy me, and I want to try getting a massive processing update ongoing. Here is my current rig:Manufacturer: Ioan Blidariu Processor: Intel® Core™2 Duo CPU E8400 @ 3.00GHz (2 CPUs), ~3.0GHz Intel® CoreTM i7-875K 2.93GHz, 8MB, Socket 1156Memory: 4094MB RAM Corsair 16GB (4 x 4GB), DDR3, 1600MHz, radiator Hard Drive: WD Velociraptor 10k RPM 300GB Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 280 Monitor: LG FLATRON 22" @ 1680x1050 Sound Card: Speakers (Realtek High Definition Audio) Speakers/Headphones: LOGITECH 2.1 Keyboard: Microsoft Confort Curve Keyboard Mouse: Default HP Pavillion a640n Mouse Mouse Surface: Optical Operating System: W7 Motherboard: EVGA 750i SLi eVGA 132-LF-E655-KR, socket 1156 Computer Case: Antec 900Big text shows changes. How will this run FSX, with conservative settings. I don't intend to bust the sliders overboard, just have my goddamn 30 FPS on app in an empty AS EDDF in any weather condition. No autogen, water probably lowest quality, etc. Also, will the GTX 280 not bottleneck the new hardware? Because right now its my CPU and Memory that do bottleneck it. (apparently)Thanks in advance for any pertinent advise.

Scrap that changes. Go i7-2600k, 1155 Mobo, 8GBy DDR3-1600Mhz CL6/7, aftermarket cooler, OC to 4.5Ghz. You're all the way!As for the GTX280, that shouldn't bottleneck. It's a strong card. It should be fine. Also, if you have spare cash, get another VRap, and make it for FSX only. That'll speed up loading times a lot. This *should* run FSX on nearly max settings (minus traffic etc)

Found them on another site, so make that the 2600k but still with the 16gb

No. 16GBy is too excessive and not required. 8GBy is sufficient.

Doesn't having an own partition for FS equate to the same?I'd rather get an SSD instead.I'm also pretty tight on money.:\

No. Because physically they are sharing the same platter, so FSX is not necessarily on the outer most part, where it's spinning fastest. SSDs are overrated. Yes they're fast, but they are really expensive, and you'd need a 80-120GBy one for FSX. That's about $300+. Whereas a 150GB VRap, which still has amazing performance, is a lot cheaper. Dedicated drives ensure FSX is on the outermost part of the platter, and always together, making search times fast, as the needle stays in roughly the same location. Get what you can afford. For budget performance, a VRap is best.

I heard that having 16GB instead of 8GB will be appreciated by FSX. I heard it on these forums.

I see, not a bad idea, might try that. The config you sent me is actually cheaper and, yeah! :)I'll update the changes in a bit.

FSX is a 32Bit program. It can only handle max 4GBy, the OS only uses about 1GBy. So unless you are running some intensive background process, 8GBy will suffice.
