Stumbled onto a smoothness increase in FS9

This might be old news but.........I had installed project ai and all the airlines and afcads. After a week of use I can say that this addon is a must have!! Anyways onto my "discovery".While flying out of Kewr last night, I got tired of GA a/c flying in and out mixing it up with the heavies, they seemed to be everywhere. So today I went to PAI's site and looked at the special packages they offer. In the directions they said the simplest way to get rid of default ai was to rename the default traffic bgl. I did that. Then I thought well I don't want to totallty get rid of GA ai so I ran the PAI GA installer.Well I went to KEWR and KPHL and WOW! amazing how smooth it was. Nothing but project ai taxxing to and fro, landing and taking off. Amazing. Usually on my old system and even with my new system there tended to be a slowdown of sorts. Not so. There was some GA ai flying around, but the sky did seem more empty then usual. So I restored the traffic bgl and bam! instant slow down-still flyable though.Just wondering if anyone else noticed this?

Yes I noticed that as well - I guess if you have fewer AI planes around -- you will have better / more smooth performanceDan :) :+

I believe this has come up here very recently. The answer is....Default aircraft are not as frame-rate friendly as PAI aircrafts. PAI are made to be nothing but AI aircraft, and as such have been optimized to be more frame-rate friendly. Such as lower detailed models... less polygons while still keep good textures, less complex flight dynamics(FDE), ect.Food for thought,Jim
