  1. Im running it with a GTX 660Ti and everything is maxed out with the exception of Mip Maps. I had problems with shimmering at max mip maps (which I think is 8), so I dropped it to 4 and it works great. I probably could have left the mip maps at 8 by tweaking some other stuff -- but this works for me. When you add in SweetFX the sim looks absolutely stunning. You wouldn't even know you're dealing with a 10 year old game.
  2. Hello everyone, Is it possible to map the TCAS silence button on the Eagle Cirrus (bottom right bezel key) to a keyboard command (or joystick button)? It's a little annoying to takeoff and then immediately hear "TRAFFIC! TRAFFIC!" for aircraft moving on ground. The same thing goes for landing, you'll be approaching the airfield and it will start blaring for traffic lined up next to the runway. Thanks -- Dan
  3. Number of cores doesn't really matter to FS, it only uses one core anyway. That gfx card is on the lower end of Nvidia's product line, OEMs like it because they can get it for almost free ($50 or less) and offer the system with the Nvidia brand recognition. The Phenom II is perfectly capable, but that graphics card simply won't cut it.-- Dan
  4. Where is FS9 installed to? By default it installs to Program Files (x86 if using Win 7 64), this folder is protected by the OS --- are you sure you're running EVP as admin so it can read/write files in that directory?
  5. Although I haven't tried this myself, you should be able to get the app to run in newer versions of the .NET framework by simply editing the EditVoicepack.exe.config file in the install directory (make a backup of it first.) <?xml version="1.0"?><configuration> <startup> <supportedRuntime version="v2.0.50727"/> <supportedRuntime version="v4.0"/> </startup></configuration> That should get it to run in 3.5 (included with Win 7) or 4.0 (latest). The framework isn't guaranteed to be 100% backward compatible, but unless EditVoiicepack is doing something really off the wall -- it should work.
  6. Yeah the case is a little cheapo ... I'll look around for something a little nicer. It's gotta fit under a table (which is pretty low), so I can't have anything too tall ...
  7. Thanks for the tips. I do programming and stuff with VMs (obviously not while running FS!) -- so 16GBs of RAM is important in my situation. For a case I'm looking athttp://www.newegg.co...N82E16811119233Yeah I know the case isn't flashy. I don't particularly like the cases with lots of lights / windows / etc. The computer sits off in the corner where nobody will ever look at it. I don't want / need a full tower (don't intend on doing SLI or having more than 1-2 HDDs [i need < 1TB total]).The power supply is :http://www.newegg.co...N82E16817139021
  8. Hello folks,I'm considering upgrading my current machine and wanted to get your opinions on whether or not the upgrade is worth it. Some background, the machine is just a general purpose machine that I also happen to use FS9 on. Don't use FSX too much since I'm satisfied with my FS9 setup, but obviously moving to a new machine I'd start fresh -- so would probably move to FSX.Current Specs:- Core 2 Duo E6600 (stock, not overclocked) @ 2.4 GHs- 8 GBs RAM (DDR 2 / 800)- Nvidia GeForce GTX 460 (1GB)Here's what I am considering upgrading to. I'm not dead set on any of the components, other than the i7 series CPU & Nvidia gfx card. Any recommendations are appreciated. Price is a factor here - but again I'm open to reasonable suggestions.(I didn't list all the components, [ie. motherboard, etc], yes I know I need a new motherboard.)Upgrade Options:- i7 2600K (I have no desire to overclock the thing, but will buy the K SKU in case I decide to blaze that trail.)- 16 GBs RAM (DDR3 / 1600)- Nvidia GeForce GTX 560Ti (probably this one). <-- Is the 580 really worth the $300 price differential? So - that's what I'm thinking about. Still on the fence about whether or not to go with an SSD. My office ordered a bunch of Intel SSDs a month or so go - and nearly all of them had to be sent back or have had other issues. A few bad ones are expected, but not 60%+Thanks in advance for any suggestions, all help is appreciated.- Dan
  9. Hello folks,I came across Flight1's Avidyne Entegra student product the other day:http://www.flight1tech.com/Products/AvidyneEntegraStudentSimulator.aspxI'm wondering if anyone has tried it -- if so, what's it like? Is it that much better than Eaglesoft's Cirrus products? Can the avionics be integrated into the Eaglesoft line? Strangely it doesn't look like Avsim has done a review on this product...I'm a big fan of Eaglesoft's Cirrus line -- I own all of them and fly the SR22T pretty much exclusively. So, in my book it'd be hard to top what Eaglesoft has done. However, the Entegra thing does have some neat features that Eaglesoft didn't include in their Avidyne suite (ie. a map with terrain.)Thanks,Dan
  10. Hey guys,I just noticed that my tooltips are no longer showing up when I mouseover gauges in FS9 running on Win 7 x64. Previously they'd show up and give me the exact values for most of the analog instruments (ie. RPM gauge, fuel gauge, etc.)Has anyone else seen this? How did you get the tooltips back again? Thanks,DanDoh! There's a setting under "general" -- show cockpit tooltips -- it was turned off. I don't recall ever turning that off... at least the fix was easy.
  11. Hi Greg,I posted an old version on a website I control -- check your messages
  12. Thanks for the tips. Didn't realize it was an FS wide problem since I only fly the Cirrus almost exclusivelyDan
  13. Hey,I'm wondering if any other Eaglesoft Cirrus drivers out there can help me out here --- how long does the battery last when the Engine isn't running? Lately I seem to be having this problem where I can barely get the preflight stuff done and get my flight plan filed before the battery quits on me (probably < 5 minutes from battery on to totally dead.) Of course, starting the engine makes everything come alive again, but it's annoying to reset all the stuff again. Is this what others are experiencing? Can any real Cirrus pilots out there comment on how long the real battery lasts? In any event, is there some config file entry I can adjust to get a little more juice out of the batteries?-- Dan
  14. Hey, I'm wondering if there are any payware/freeware aircraft out there for FS9 that feature the G1000 avionics? If so, how would you rate them? Thanks, Dan
  15. Hello folks, I'm having trouble with the AP in the SR22 Turbo. For some reason, the heading indicator is way out of whack so the plane won't fly at the heading bug specified. The GPS NAV hold is also busted, the plane just goes off in a totally weird direction. The problem is illustrated in the attached screenshot, the heading hold is on, but the plane is definitely not flying at the bug...Anyone know what the problem could be? I'm running Win7 64 bit with the latest updates. Thanks in advance, all help is appreciated.Edit: If I go and reselect the aircraft everything works fine (after I reset the gauges and stuff) --- weird-- Dan
  16. Nevermind - I got it fixed by deleting my FS9 CFG file, fortunately I had a working backup of the thing.Dan
  17. Hello folks,Recently Ive started having problems with the throttle in FS9 (all aircraft). When I push the throttles all the way up, the max N1 (or RPM) I get out of any aircraft is around 68%. This happens with just my keyboard connected (ie. not a joystick calibration problem.) When I press F4 (the keyboard command to go full tilt) I can't get any higher any higher than 68%. I'm running Windows 7 64 bit ultimate --- is anyone else experiencing this problem? Thanks in advance.Dan
  18. Hello everyone,I'm looking to buy another GA plane for FS9 -- I was wondering if ya'll had any recommendations. My current favorite GA aircraft are the Cirrus line from Eaglesoft (I have all 3 planes.) I'm looking for something a little bit bigger than that maybe with some interesting new avionics package (does anyone have a GA plane with the Garmin G1000?)Thanks for the suggestions.-- Dan
  19. Hey guys:This might should go in Eaglesoft's support forum, but I can't figure out where to post questions over there? Anyway -- after flying my Eaglesoft SR22 Turbo on a long flight (several hours, near max range) it seems that the heading hold on the AP is off a few degrees? For example, I'll move the heading bug to make the plane turn right to 225*, but it'll stop at 220. Similarly, if I make the plane turn left to 100*, it'll overshoot it a little and end up at 105*.Gyro drift is turned off in FS realism settings, and the only plane that exhibits the problem is the SR22 (I think - it could be others, but I fly in the SR22 95% of the time.)Does anyone know how to fix this? Is it some realism thing that Eaglesoft implemented? Thanks!
  20. Thanks. I tried another flight and it worked as expected -- not sure what happened the first time? Anyway - glad it works -- wouldn't want to have to send my favorite aircraft to the "repair shop"!Dan
  21. Hey Everyone,I've just upgraded my FS machine to Win 7 so now I'm in the process of reinstalling all of my FS stuff (*cringe*). Anyway, I took the Eaglesoft SR22G3T out for a spin -- awesome aircraft btw -- and noticed that the trip tab of the Avidyne displays the incorrect values. The fuel at the next waypoint looks ok, but all of the other waypoints show 0. Everything else appears to be working fine ... so I'm not sure what the deal is. Interestingly, the engine tab shows the correct amount of fuel remaining / time till 0 fuel. Anybody have any ideas?I'm running FS9, patched to 9.1 and FSUIPC (unregged) 3.93. The OS is Windows 7 x64.Thanks in advance, all help is appreciated!PS. I don't know if the trip tab ever worked right -- can anyone check to see if it works in XP?Dan
  22. Hey guys:I've been rebuilding my flight sim machine and reinstalled all of my PMDG products. Unfortunately, I don't have the latest AIRAC & SID/STAR data. They used to be free from navigraph, but now you have to pay for them. Does anyone know where you can get the last free versions that navigraph pushed out? I know that those are really old ... but they're a lot newer than the ones included with the 737! :( Thanks!Dan
  23. Its in the regular plane -- not the WS version...What key do you use to switch views? I wonder if my keyboard mappings are messed up somehow?
  24. Hello all:I just bought Eaglesoft's newest release, the SR22G3 -- awesome plane! But - it has one little quirk; when you switch views (from cockpit to VC to spot) the CAPS control window comes up. Can anyone confirm this?I'm running FS9 on XP.
