  1. Hello everyone:First off - if this is the wrong forum - feel free to move it to wherever it should be...I am thinking of building a new PC. Right now I have a 2.53 GHz with 512 MB RAM. I'm looking to go up to 2 GB of RAM with either a Intel Core Duo processor at 2.4 GHz or a Pentium D at 3.6 GHz.Anybody know if FS9 / FS10 will run well with the dual cores? Or - is it best to stick with the faster single core? The price is virtually the same (+/- $20) -- so I'm ok either way.Edit: Here's the link to the specs: https://secure.newegg.com/NewVersion/Wishli...ishListTitle=PCThanks for the input.
  2. Peter:The CRJ Experience product is downloadable and includes the CRJ-200. The CRJ Next Gen product is an "upgrade" to the experience product that gives you the CRJ-700 and CRJ-900. It is also downloadable. The CRJ 2004 product is a bundle of the other two - it comes on CD.Hope that helps!

    Project AI

Is the Project AI website down? < http://www.projectai.com >I haven't been able to get to it for the last day or so...?Thanks.
  4. Nevermind - read that wrong.Moderator: Please delete this...
  5. Hello Everyone:I am looking at buying Eaglesoft's SR-20 -- does anybody have this plane? If so - how do you like it? (Avsim gave it a great review - so that's always a plus...).Thanks in advance!
  6. Ok:After troubleshooting this all weekend - I give up. I've commented out the lines that call the crjroll.wav files. This at least "muted" the thud sounds.I tried changing the parameters so that way I would only hear the sound between 30 - 145 KIAS - but the CRJ and FS were working against me...Oh well - no biggie. Thanks for the help
  7. Thanks - I'll see if that works...
  8. Hello Everyone:Can someone who has the FeelThere CRJ-200 post the following two sections of the sound.cfg file? Thanks!{GROUND_ROLL}{GROUND_ROLL1}I removed these two sections from the file because they were causing me to hear a constant thud sound (as described in my previous post). I just want to see what they should be set to... (No idea how mine got reset in the first place - but...)PS. If a moderator reads this - please delete my previous post about the thud in the cockpit.
  9. I don't think the AP is on - but I'll check.Any other ideas? Deleting the FS9.cfg file didn't fix it -- luckily I backed it up before I trashed it :)EDIT: The AP is not on -- even after re-installing the CRJ - the thud noise still happens...Does anybody else know about this? Can someone post the {SOUND} section of their FS9.cfg file for me to compare mine against? Thanks
  10. Hello Everyone:Lately - I've been having problems with a constant thud sound in the cockpit of FeelThere's CRJ-200. I tried cycling the sound on/off (by pressing Q twice) -- but that doesn't fix the problem. If I press Q twice - I either hear the same sound after it comes back on - or I hear a different sound --- which sounds like a HUGE rush of air -- as if I were in a hurricane or somethin....Any ideas how I can fix this? I'll try to see if I can pinpoint which files are playing constantly...I don't think I'm having problems with other aircraft. Thanks in advance - all help is appreciatedEDIT: I found the sound files (I think). The "thud" sound is similar to crjroll.wav and the "hurricane" sound is similar to gearair.wav. Both are in the sound folder for FeelThere's CRJ.EDIT 2: I found out that this annoying thud sound falls under the "environmental" category in FS (I disabled it -- the sound went away.) I've uploaded the sound here to avsim for your listening pleasure... :)
  11. I think PMDG changes the keyboard combos somewhat. Click PMDG on the menu bar and then select keyboard commands (something like that). From there - you can reassign the keys as you see fit.
  12. Hello Tass - and welcome!PMDG's planes can be difficult to master - since there are so many buttons to push! However, they are really fun to fly once you get the hang of it.As far as your questions - here goes.Engaging the A/T:1: In order to use the A/T - you have to first engage the Flight Director (FD Switch on MCP -- left side). 2: *I think* you also need to be running on engine generator power (not APU power) for it to work. Once you've got the engines running, look on the overhead panel and make sure the APU is turned off. 3: Then make sure you flipped the GEN1 and GEN2 switches. They have a blue light above them that says "GEN OFF BUS" - if it is lit up - hit the switch.*** EDIT: Ok - I read the ops thing Markus sent the link to. Turns out the FD doesn't need to be on - so just ignore that step. ***TCAS:1: Once you turned the TCAS on using the radio panel -- you need to turn it on so the data shows up on your screens.2: To activate it - just push the button labeled "TFC" on the glareshield. Left click on the middle of the range selector knob to do this.3: Adjust the range using the range knob as you see fit. *I think* the TCAS will only work up to a certain range - but I'm not flyin right now - so I don't know the exact number. If you have some AI traffic installed - go to JFK and turn the thing on - you should see plenty of stuff there. If you need any other help - just let us know - we're here to help!
  13. I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for - but you could try the FS9 Configurator - it has options to set AI Taxi & Runway Turnoff speeds. I think I downloaded the tool from the library. Also, if the AI aircraft is turning off onto the grass (vs the taxiway), it could mean that something is wrong with the airport's AFCAD file.Just out of curiosity - do you have this problem at all airports - or just a few?
  14. Have you tried updating your motherboard's chipset drivers? Intel has a utility that will figure out the chipset for you if you don't know it (search there downloads for "Chipset Identification Utility".)Also - have you patched Windows so that it has all the updates? Finally - check for any ! marks under device manager... If there are any - update the driver or remove the hardware (ie. If it's a dial-up modem, trash it.)
  15. Most likely - that DLL is missingHere's an excerpt PMDG's support post on the topic:CTD: MISSING TCAS DLLs:========================We have had reported to us and been able to verify that there are a number of commercial and freeware addons also using I. Lee Hetherington's magnificent TCAS addon.Unfortunately, it appears that some of the freeware and commercial vendors have not established their installer properties carefully- and if you uninstall their airplane, they also delete the TCAS dlls. This renders any other aircraft using the TCAS dll inoperative- and results in a CTD.RESOLUTION FOR MISSING TCAS DLL CTD:-> Go to your root FS9 directory.-> Look for the file: TCAS2V7.dll-> If the file is missing, skip to the last last line.-> If the file is present, right click on it, select PROPERTIES/VERSION. The version should be 1.1.6.0-> If you have the file present AND it is the correct version- this is not affecting you. If it is not present, OR the version is older than 1.1.6.0, then:-> The simplest way to replace the dll is to open your original 747-400 installer (not the updater) and run the installer. Select "repair" from the menu that appears - and it should find and replace that missing dll. Once the installer has completed it's task- repeat the steps in this sequence to ensure you have the correct dll present.
  16. I don't know where you can download them, but you can at least view flightplans (and plug them manually into an FMC) at several sites. Two I like are:http://www.simroutes.comhttp://www.flightaware.com <-- This site has real airline flight plansOnce you get the route, you can use fsroute < http://www.fsroute.com > to build the flight plan and export it to FS or PMDG/Level-D. I've never used fsroute though, so I can't say much about it.
  17. Here's a cockpit video of an Alitalia MD-11 landing at Kai Tak - kinda interesting...The video isn't the best quality, but you can definitely tell the landing went a little crazy (bank angle alarm at < 30' off the ground???)http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-7...61787&q=Kai+Tak** The landing part begins at about 7:30 minutes, the first part is just them flying while looking at some approach charts and stuff **
  18. Thanks Vin!This is why I always enjoy doing business with PMDG, a response in less than 30 minutes, outstanding support - and a great product! (Not to mention a great price, only $15!)
  19. Hello Everyone:Does anyone know where to find a US Air repaint for PMDG's B1900D? From PMDG's website, it looks like they have one (from all the pictures), but I can't find one in their library. I searched the Avsim library too, but didn't find anything. Can anybody point me in the right direction? Thanks, all help is appreciated.
  20. Hello Everyone:Maybe it's just me - but I'm having trouble with KHEF's (Manassas Regl) ILS approach for runway 16L.It doesn't look like the ILS lines up with the runway. For example, I flew in there today with the Learjet and was dead set on the ILS (horizontally); however, I ended up in a grassy area between 16L and 16R.Can anyone else confirm this problem? I found another AFCAD file in the library for KHEF, but it looks like the ILS heading is the same. Is this how it really is at KHEF, or should I go back to flight school? Thanks - all help is appreciated!
