January 8, 201115 yr Hey Guys,For a while now I have been trying to assign the 12 macro keys within FSX without any luck. Can anyone provide help with using macro keys.Cheers
January 8, 201115 yr I've hear of the LUA macros you can program in FSUIPC and then assign to a key or whatever, but I have never heard of "FSX macros" per se. Can you explain?Cheers,- jahman.
January 8, 201115 yr ChrisI tried this with a little applet called HID Macros but was not very succesful, http://avsimrus.com/f/fsx-utilities-84/hid-macros-22902.html. Like Jahman says a combination of FSUIPC and Lua could be the way to go.This is interesting reading but I haven't gone any further http://www.jimspage.co.nz/encoders.htmRegardsPeterH
January 11, 201115 yr Jahman, all I wanted to know is how to assign the macro keys on my keyboard to commands within FSX. Doors, lights etc
January 11, 201115 yr Chris,by "Macro Keys" do you mean the F1-F12 keys on the top row of your keyboard? This seems easy to do in FSUIPC4 (assign as you would any other key) but perhaps I am missing something? Do you use FSUIPC4? (I can walk you through).Cheers,- jahman.
January 11, 201115 yr Yes I use FSUIPC and your help would be greatly appreciated. No, I don't mean the F1-F12 keys. See number 3 in the diagram. Those macro keys.http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/gaming/productdetails.aspx?pid=102

Those macro keys.http://www.microsoft...ls.aspx?pid=102 Chris, I have programed some Lua scripts in the past and will be glad to help you with that if needed, but I don't think it's a matter of using Lua if all you want to do is a simple assignment.I take it FSUIPC doesn't detect those keystrokes right? The product description reads: " Up to 30 programmable keys that can allow up to 90 programmable options with an assigned gaming profile."If you can map those keys using those gaming profiles to something like shift+ctrl+tab+... you're all set
January 11, 201115 yr Correct. If I try assigning using the FSX default key assignment, doesn't detect. And same with FSUIPC. There are also 4 "programmable" buttons on my mouse as well which could come in handy. However these are the same as the keyboard, no go. The software provided is an extension on the mouse menu under control panel. Not very detailed.

January 11, 201115 yr Nope. User guide is a thin leaflet telling me how to connect to the computer and how to install software. One thing I did try. In the very limited software, there is an option to assign 1 programmable macro key to keystrokes. For example, macro key S1 I assigned to tab+1. In FSX, this is open door 1L for my PMDG 747x. Didn't work. Tab+1 works, but pressing macro key S1 does nothing.
January 11, 201115 yr And on the mouse, I set the top thumb button to F7, and bottom to F6, therefore extending/retracting flaps incrementally. Also did not work.

January 11, 201115 yr No. The drivers for it were intellipoint for mouse, and intellitype for windows. All it basically did was add a new tab or two to the standard windows control panel mouse & keyboard menus.
