January 9, 201115 yr I am experiencing a continual proble in amending altitudes in the MD11 MCP flight plan. When I put in a new altitude, eg for descent, in the flight plan (using Vert Rev) against an existing waypoint the whole screen freezes up and I have to control-alt-delete to remove the marked 'FSX not running' in the task manager . I fare no better when I try enetering eg 250/50 directly into the flight plan window,.I think this issue has come up before but I cannot find a solution.in the forum.I am using Vista 64I would be grateful for advice on this matter,Best wishes,John Morgan
January 10, 201115 yr Hi John.Is this in FS9 or FSX? Have you got the up-to-date version of the MD11 installed> (i.e. v1.20.0055)Does it happen in every instance where you try it or is it isolated to just one particular waypoint? Also is it on approach to one particular airport? Are you already in the descent or in the cruise at the point where you enter the altitude constraint?Let us know a few extra details and we'll see what we can do for you. :) Mark Adeane - NZWN

If I go to the 'about PDMG' in the FSX add on menu I get Version(App) 10,0,61335,62. From the files available I see I have used, some time ago, the installer to update to v1 10.051 . I also have PDMG-MD11_FSX_Changes_v1 20 00555 which suggests that I am up to v1 20 00555 but I am not absolutely sure as I have come back to the MS11 after perhaps 18 monts away.It happens on more than one way point. I ahve only tried it on approaches, E and W, to EGPH. I rather think that if I use the 'at or above' box in Vert Rev then no freezing occurs. I have wondered whether it ws owing to my inserting unrealistically rapid altitudinal changes but I do not think that is the case.Because it happened in flight and froze up I have taken to amending altitudes before I take off. The altitudes I have wished to amend are all descent altitudes. The fact that if I get it wrong I have to spend time getting out of FSX and then reloading it has made me a bit reluctant to experiment further with the exact cirumstances which is why I have landed in this forum. Thanks very much for your offer of help,Best wishes, John Morgan
January 11, 201115 yr Thanks for the elaboration John, I'm following up another issue for a fellow in the next day or two, will see if I can replicate it and lef you know. Mark Adeane - NZWN
January 11, 201115 yr Author Thanks for the elaboration John, I'm following up another issue for a fellow in the next day or two, will see if I can replicate it and lef you know. Thanks Mark, I am away now until next Monday 17th Jan so no hurry. Nevertheless I would appreciate some help in due course,Best wishes, John
January 16, 201115 yr John,No success in replicating at my end I'm afraid. Are the altitude constraints that cause you a problem "at", "at or above", or "at or below"? Or any of these?Mark Mark Adeane - NZWN
January 21, 201115 yr Author John,No success in replicating at my end I'm afraid. Are the altitude constraints that cause you a problem "at", "at or above", or "at or below"? Or any of these?MarkThanks again Mark for your interest.I have been trying to insert an altitude 'AT' 3000 into LANAK near EGPH after leaving TLA on a EGCC to EGPH flight. Its taking quite a lot of time to narrow down the possibilities but I have within the last day been able to ascertain a situation in which I am able to insert 3000 successfully into LANAK. It appears that if I am descending I can enter AT 3000 altitude. However if I attempt to insert AT 3000 into LANAK before take off then the screen freezes. 'AT or ABOVE ' seems to work in all circumstances.I think the best thing is for me to do some more testing so that I can be more specific about the exact circumstance when this freezing up occurs and I am then likely to come back on the topic via this forum,Thanks again,JohnMorgan
