January 11, 201115 yr So after constantly reading and researching, I've finally ordered my new, rig, and this is my first build. I haven't been able to play FSX much on my stupid laptop so I'm looking forward to this. I plan on doing incremental upgrades, particularly the ram, in a couple months, and yeah, I'm sure 16GB will be overkill, but whatever.1TB WD Caviar Black HDDEVGA GTX 470 (Maybe will do the stup-up program when the 560 comes out)G. Skill Ripjaw 2x4GB DDR3 1600 (Will get another one of these in a couple months)ASUS P8P67 MOBO2600K processorRunning on a Samsung tv, and to be honest I don't know what kind because I inherited it from my uncle, and I only looked at the book one time. But it does do 1080p and it's at least 42 in.and of course case, psu, heatsink blah blah blah
January 11, 201115 yr Looks good. If you buy a 470 with the intention of using EVGA's step-up program, moving to a 560 is likely not to gain much (if any) performance. It may actually be somewhat slower. Don't skimp on the PSU either. A lot of people try to save money by getting higher wattage PSUs from lesser known brands and it almost always comes back to bite them. Get a good PSU of at least 500W from a well known company like Corsair or Thermaltake (or Seasonic or Silverstone or any other number of high-end PSU manufacturers).
January 11, 201115 yr Also coolermaster and antec PSUs. Don't forget to get a good airflow case for OCing.
January 11, 201115 yr For cooling I would go with the Corsair H70 if you plan on overclocking. The waterblock is very small and the radiator mounts to the rear fan exhaust. If you have a mid tower case you won't have any problems with room and it will be a nice clean look. Scott KGPI
January 11, 201115 yr I also recommend the H70. However, if you have the space, some Asetek closed loop liquid cooling systems have double radiators, allowing a larger surface area of heatsink within radiator, and therefore greater cooling. These are normally attached to the roof of the case, with 2 120mm fans side by side attached to the radiator.
January 11, 201115 yr Author Alright this is embarrassing, I can't find the edit button to do this. But I'll just post the rest of the specs.PSU is quite a hogbelly lol - Rosewill 1000 watt, it was $90 off so I figured it will last me for many years hopefully. (Probably fell off the truck or something which is why it's so cheap)Antec 300 caseArctic Silver 5 compoundCooler Master Hyper 212 coolerAsus dvd burnerHoping this lasts me through college and then some. With self-builds, do people usually just buy a new part or two every year and keep refreshing it, and after 5 years or so, it becomes a whole new system? That's what I'm kinda hoping for. Being in college, I'm low on money so I don't wanna spend goo gobs on this thing.PS - Going for aeronautical, or maybe astronautical, engineering so I figured it would be fun, and useful, to learn to fly what I'm learning to build lol.

The rest of the list looks fine, the Antec 300 is a good case for the price and the same goes for the Hyper 212 (make sure you get the + model though).Hoping this lasts me through college and then some.
