January 13, 201115 yr Can someone help me put these new Sandybridge CPUs in perspective. Go for a new Sandybridge or an older i7? The new CPUs seem to be very cheap in comparison, but what is the relative performance.
January 13, 201115 yr Relatively the same performance wise. At 1/3 of the cost. Excellent deal if you don't have an i7 already.

It seemed to be too good to be true for the cost, and while I want to save money, I don't mind buying for performance. I have a 4 year old Core 2 Duo, so it's time to upgrade.
January 14, 201115 yr Unlocked multiplier, overclocking possible, since BCLK overclocking is a no-no. You don't get a SB CPU NOT to overclock it
January 14, 201115 yr Non K Sandy Bridge chips can actually be overclocked , but just 4 bins over the turboEnough for 4GH, but for the price difference get a K and OC the crap out of it!
