January 15, 201115 yr I am upgrading my PC this weekend from an older Q6600 quad to an i7. I noted, looking at the new mobo manual, that there are no IDE connectors such as I am using now in the older system for the DVD drives. Seems there are only SATA connectors. Do I need a new DVD drive, or is there an IDE-to-SATA adaptor? Any advice on what is the best way to go?Thanks, Bruce. ASEL, Instrument. KBJC, Colorado.

IDE is old school and not used anymore. Plus SATA doesn't require jumpers.I have no idea if they sell converters.
January 15, 201115 yr There are a whole bunch of them at Amazon. Just make sure you get the one converting an IDE drive to SATA and not the other way around :-)But as the previous poster recommended, I'd get a new SATA DVD drive and get it over with. They are ridiculously cheap. Cheers,- jahman.
