Run Time 75 Error on Win XP

Featured Replies

Hi allI'm less than happy :-( Just spent over an hour flying from EPWA to EHAM and thern, about 100NM from EHAM, Radar Contact crashes with a Run Time 75 error.I've done some searches and JDDT seem to suggest that 75 errors are caused by not running RC as administrator on vista/win 7, but I have Win XP. I will try to run as administrator in future to see if it helps.I do have Norton 360 but I can't find ANYWHERE any layman advice on how to set up permissions (RC doesn't even show up as a program). To be honest, I'm getting a bit down with FS, much as I hate to say it. I seem to spend more time tweaking and faffing about, and praying it won't crash as I do flying! Even then< i'm lucky to get a stable 8 FPS, even with settings on medium-low, and the FPS locked at 11 FPS (I have a dual core 2.8ghx, 256mb Radeon x700 and 2.5gb RAM).Can anyone offer any views? So far, I've managed to complete one flight for KLM Virtual, and had three cancelled due to RC crashing.Fly on folks!

i'll bet that you don't have the .flt/.wx path defined. probably right before the crash, fsuipc autosaved the .flt or you saved the .fltwhen that happens rc saves a .rcd file to the .flt/wx path. if it's not defined, no telling where it might go, or if you have permissions to write there.click the flt/wx button, and define the path, same path where the .flt and .wx files are stored.take another flight, click debug before loading the plan (in case it happens again, and i need to troubleshoot it further). in xp, there isn't the need to "run as administrator".whatever antivirus/malware program you have running, has to know that rc is a trusted application, so that they don't deny access to write to where rc needs to write it's temporary files.jd

Thanks JD, I'll try this. Interestingly. I had set the flt/wx path. but when I just loaded up RC now to check where it was pointing, it wasn't pointing anywhere. I'll make sure it's pointing there before each flight and will click debug before trying again. Thanks for the quick response and apologies if I came across a bit grumpy.....!
