External failure system?

Featured Replies

Does anyone know of a system for triggering failures besides the system included in whatever add-ons are being used? I'm looking for a way to trigger failures at a lower probability than 1/10 in the MD-11, as well as trigger random failures in a couple aircraft I have that use the default system.

For external failures FSpassengers is pretty good for the basic stuff, it includes Bird strikes, high oil pressure and a few other things. I have it set to 1% chance of a failure, still higher then real world since I've had about 2 bird strikes in the past year but hey it's a simulator, don't want to go 20 years without a engine out :) One good feature I like is some third world countries can have bad maintenace, so even if you set failures to 1% flying into a dodgy airport in Africa will increase the chance to 15% for example. After spending 2 years on a air force base in Africa I think the % should probably be higher! Also aircraft & engines age with time, it sounds a bit gamey but you can pretty much set everything up once and forget about it, I had 10 FEDEX MD11 aircraft, all we're different ages and some we're more reliable then others.

There wouldn't be any way for an external program to control the MD-11's failures as it's all custom code and not standard FSX variables. NGX failure system will be much better.

I'm not a huge fan of FSPax, I tried the demo and hated it.Tabs, is there any chance of a change being released after the NGX? It's not a huge deal, but it's the only flaw in the whole product.
