Moving CL2 to FSX and lost L-1011 Eastern Airlines liveries

Featured Replies

Hi all, Two points to this slightly long post:1) I am looking to move the Aerosim L-1011 in all it's variants and models available (including freighters) from FS9 to FSX - it will probably be a 'fresh install' at the moment though. I have read it is relatively easy and without too many problems but I have not found a tutorial anywhere and I have not yet moved anything over to FSX, since I have only had it (on my Dell 1545 laptop) for about a week. Are there any tutorials that you know of or if not how difficult is it; is it almost literally just the same as FS9, just different folder structures?Be great if I could get this beauty in to FSX!... and...2) I have the L-1011 on another computer at home (on FS9) and I am not too sure whether or not I have some of liveries any longer, including two Eastern Airlines ones. I acquired them long ago before Avsim almost disappeared off the surface of the Earth... One was the original white 'hockey stick' livery and the other was the final good looking polished/brushed metal effect. Looking on the repaint list post on this forum they were N313EA and N329EA. There is one Eastern livery in the library at the moment but there is simply no comparison. Whoever did them was talented as they looked very realistic and were even more great on Aerosim's model. ^_^So as I've said I am looking to move the TriStar over to FSX and my question is does anyone have any EAL repaints in use on their TriStar which they wouldn't mind sending me - perhaps even uploading them (giving due credit to the original authors) to Avsim. We can only thank the hacking idiots who seriously threatened Avsim the other year. :( Incidentally I just thought do they need to be in the DDS format and how easy is it to do the conversion? If not I may attempt to do a repaint myself and release it in the name below :smile:Hope someone can help me out with either/both of these things in some way! Many thanks in advance.

Anyone got any pointers?

1) First, try to move the CL2 aircraft folders to Simobjects/Airplanes, and also copy over the gauges. There probably are no turotials since not too many people use the Aerosim aicraft packages, but this is the simplest way to port over an aircraft from FS9 to FSX - success not guaranteed. You may have to adjust some stuff in the aircraft.cfg. I'm afraid I'm no great help with that, however...2) Didn't you ask this somewhere else already? I'd swaer I answered exactly this question in some other thread, but here goes. Check flightsim.com. Go into the file library and search for "Aerosim Eastern Tristar". There comes one Eastern Airlines livery up; is that the one you are looking for? Its reg is N320EA. I don't think they necessarily have to be in DDS format, but I'm not sure - try and test it out. if the textures look weird, you'll have to convert them, which is easy to do. Open them up in DXTBmp, flip them vertically so that they end up upside down, and save as DDS texture.

Thanks Thralni,I'll have to see how well I get on moving it over using my own initiative! :( And yes you did - thought I might get more answers - but that repaint is not the one I was after. Not to worry, I may have them backed up somewhere but if not I will do one myself. Thanks for the help.
