Rejected Takeoff / Braking Question

Featured Replies

With a rejected takeoff, upon closing the throttles is this the command that then kicks in the the breaking system with RTO setting? (with RTO selected prior to departure.Hope this makes sense. What im asking is how/when does RTO initiate/command?

Jeff,Yes, just closing two of three throttles will initiate the RTO mode. For this to happen, spoilers have to be armed.Which RTO mode is triggered (max or min braking), depends on speed.Regards,Harry

+1.Exactly as you said. The RTO applies the braking actions depending on the speed, but always an hard braking for ensure short time stop for security. The breaking action is applied immediatly after you close two of the 3 throttles...and then also the spoilers (armed before TO as per checklist item) are automatically deployed...Cheers,
