JS41 FMC VNAV descent planning

Featured Replies

I am successfully using DATA? to input descent profile in VNAV on the FMC, but am not seeing a meaningful ROD indication or ETE TODs, just TOC ETEs and indicated climb rates, even in the cruise. This may be because the Actual Alt indication at the top of the VNAV screen is showing ?metres instead of feet? In other words, having input CRZ alt of 18000 and actually being at that level, the Height indication on VNAV is around 5600 metres ... Any advice on how to change the Actual or make sense of what I'm seeing, would be much appreciated. (Sorry: a fast post - no time to arrange a screenshot. Hope my question still makes a little sense :)Incidentally: I took a look at the Configuration Utility but couldn't find exactly what I was looking for ... but maybe that's the only place to go! In the UK at least, for RW flying we use metric system for pressures and visibility (i.e. mb and km/metres), but always "imperial" (i.e. feet) for height and altitude. I had set everything to metric for pressures and so on. Does that force a metric readout for the VNAV too? Any way of getting a hybrid, so alt readouts are in feet? Thanks and best wishes,David

:( :( :( Dear colleagues,I just checked the FSX settings tab again ... and to my considerable embarrassment, found what I was asking for! If there's still problem I'll be back. But for now, consider this post of mine a waste of your time!Best,David

I did the same thing a few months ago, and couldn't workout why my JS41 wasn't working, It also causes your altimeter to show meters. I actually uninstalled the aircraft, and reinstalled with the same problem. Then when I went to fly in the US I changed the settings and it clicked.

What a relief to know there are at least two of us!David
