Problem with take off part of flight

Recommended Posts

I downloaded the FS2CREW voice commander for the PMDG 747-400 on 1st January 2011. Firstly this is an awesome add on to the PMDG 747. I flew about 5 flights following the Main Operations Manual step by step and the application worked flawlessly. On the 6 th flight everything went like clockwork until I ran the Runway Entry Procedure, that went OK and the Main Panel went over to Takeoff. Within seconds this display went to Rejected T/O without any input from me. At this point the Main Panel indicated that the program was in Decent Mode ( flashing star in top left hand corner ). Nothing I tried managed to sort out this problem, scrolling through to Runway Entry again and running the runway entry Procedure again etc. The program still stays in decent mode, whatever you select on the Main Panel. You can ignore the FS2CREW program and fly the 747 up to cruise as normal and you get all the decent callouts in reverse order as you climb up through the various levels. When you come to the Decent piont of the flight you can use FS2CREW from this point down and it works pretty much as it should, sometimes only missing out a call or two on the way down. I reloaded FS2CREW and did a perfect next flight with everything working as it should!! The next flight, however, went from takeoff to rejected takeoff as before. Any ideas?? This is the FS9 version and the PMDG747 has been flying for 6 months without a hitch. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Peter

Hi Peter,What probably happened is that you said something that the speech recognition system interpreted as a "reject" takeoff command. The command is "Stop".So you got thrown in the Rejected TO routine and you got stuck in it because you didn't follow the RTO expected procedure.Watch the 'green bar' and ensure it's not hearing 'stop'.Cheers,Bryan

Hi Brian, thanks for the reply. That is exactly what I thought but when I had repeated the problem a couple of times I watched the display line carefully but saw nothing. I will be flying again this evening and have reloaded FS2CREW again and will watch what is being recorded very carefully and will drop a post here if I come up with anything. Thanks again, Peter

Hi Brian, a little more information. I still have the problem. I have done a startup and taxi to the runway 3 times now, all is 100% till I run "Runway Entry Procedure". The FO says ready to go then he says check. That is all I see on the display ( green bar ) as well. As soon as he says check I get the Rejected T/O. Maybe this helps.Regards, Peter

Hi Brian, I have just had a look at that VCR file, there is a stop command ( captain stop ) right where I have the problem. How do I find out what is causing this, I have no background noise and keep dead quiet. I am using a microphone/headset so am not getting loudspeaker feedback.Regards, Peter

Hi Brian, I have found the problem, I am getting either audio feedback from my earphones to the microphone, or cross coupling in the headset cable or input stage to the sound card on my pc. The temporary solution is to turn the VOL down for the FO on the main panel to just audible at the runway entry stage. This solves the problem at this critical stage of the take off. I can turn the audio up again once off the ground. For some reason the voice recognition hears ready to roll as "Stop".Thanks one again for your help, and for an excellent product.Regards, Peter
