February 22, 201115 yr Using Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 with CH pedals and yoke for several years. A few days ago started having engine RPM problems on the Cessna 172. Can't get the engine RPM over about 2150. Same problem if I use key board or yoke. Have downloaded updates, removed and reloaded software but no luck. Any ideas? Thanks
February 22, 201115 yr What's the elevation of the airport you're flying from? And is the mixture set correctly? Both mags on?
February 22, 201115 yr Check your enginecontrols:-in windows controlpanel/gamecontrollers, do the axes used for the enginecontrols move the full range?-in FS controller setup, any deadzone or sensitivity set?-in the cockpit, do the enginecontrols move the full range? Is it only with the C172?Try using a panel with a manifold pressure gauge, how does it respond to the throttle?
February 22, 201115 yr You can determine whether it's a controller problem by hitting F4 on the keyboard. That will give you full throttle no matter where the controllers are, as long as they are not moving.Try unplugging all the controllers to be safe and press F4. If you still get low rpm then the problem must be something to do with mixture/spark etc. Check both mags on and remember if you're trying to take off from a very high airport on a hot day the engine will struggle.
