November 14, 200322 yr Author <1.) Try right click, download with...<2.) Hold down ctrl or shft when clicking (depends on what "your downloader" is...Tried all that, but still no joy. I've been using the excellent 'Star Downloader' utility for several weeks now and this is the first time I have encountered this problem. When I click to download, 'Star Downloader' downloads a small file which appears to be a 'Gateway' file of some sort, viz:http://files.fsnordic.net/cgi-bin/file/msfs_jump.cgi?ID=1447I presume this file should be redirecting me to the m7260_v1.zip file location, but it doesn't.Is this problem peculiar to Dialup Connections or are you others who have managed to achieve a successful download not using a download utility and are lucky enough to have BroadBand?BT, bless their hearts, don't seem capable of developing the technology to ensure a stable BroadBand connection if your location happens to be borderline distance from one of their exchanges (and that's despite my home being within 5km of our local exchange). If you live in the UK and use BT be very wary of all the guff they try to sell you. I wasn't, and it took me 2 months to extricate myself from their contract and receive my refund. After much telephone conversation and argument (and that's another story!) they were finally persuaded that I was correct and they had got it wrong!! Despite a formal complaint I didn't even receive an apology for all the hassle, time wasted and inconvenience caused by their general ineptitude and unwillingness to be honest at the outset. All I received was a brief standard response which left me with a very sour taste. There, I've got that off my chest...again!There is just no way, short of miraculous luck, that I will achieve a good download of several hours duration without resume capabilities.Any further thoughts? Anyone else?Mike
November 14, 200322 yr Author Hi David,"BTInternet - you are in the UK"......Yes, I live just south of Edinburgh and my local airport is EGPH. We're going to get a Concorde sometime next year at East Fortune. :-jumpy :-jumpy Probably only a carcass, however :( Still, better than no Concorde, eh?!Thanks very much for your very kind offer. I may well have to take you up on it - if so I'll send you an e-mail.Meantime, I've posted my problem on the FSNordic English forum and again here in case someone else has the solution.Cheers!Mike :-wave
November 15, 200322 yr Author Hi David,A quick update. Problem resolved :)Sami Puro, one of FSNordic's administrators, very kindly provided a direct link to the file. Star Downloader is happy now, as indeed am I :)Not convinced Star Downloader was the problem here as I have never encountered this issue before. I've used GoZilla and DAP in the past and this utility has them beaten, period. Straightforward uncluttered interface, no hassles, NO ads and, above all, reliable. Thanks again for your very kind offer of help.Best regards,Mike :-waveThe direct link is:http://files2.fsnordic.net/files/msfs/zip/...on/m7260_v1.zip
November 15, 200322 yr I just downloaded this one from fsnordic. Took 4minutes and 32seconds to get the entire file. God, I love this 2mb cable service.
November 15, 200322 yr Yes you're correct Lizardo- my ASI reads about 10-12Knot fast.It really is a lovely model with lots of options .....BUT (there's always a "but") it's a frame rate grabber...........Compared with the default Cessna 172 and also the new Blackhawk helicopter on a dusk flight out of KMIA I got the following...Take off run: C172= 19/20fps,Blackhawk= 17/18,Maule 14(at best)In level flight over airfield: C172= 25(locked),Blackhawk 23-25,Maule= 19-20.All flights using 2D panel.VC was noticeably worse with the Maule but little difference in the other two aircraft.I just wonder why this should be?Dave
November 15, 200322 yr ASI seems fine on mine, the "big" numbers are in MPH, and the small ones are in knots, is that why you're having trouble?.Dan.
