November 15, 200322 yr Hi, I'd like to know how to manually install a .exe program. I recently downloaded a scenery package and I am using fs2002. The .exe is not reconizing the fs2002 because this scenery is for 2004. I had read somewhere that it can be done manually but did not say how. Thank you, S.
November 15, 200322 yr Author It depends on the type of file the exe is.If you create a zip file you can make it into and exe file and it will automatically unzip itself. In that case if you have WinZip (or similar) you can manually unzip it to a folder of your choice. If the exe is an installer then the best solution is to create a dummy FS2004 folder and point the installer to that folder and let it install there. Then all you have to do is copy the files and folders into FS2002.However if the installer looks in the registry for FS9 then you are stumped. Best solution then is to ask if anyone has the scenery installed and ask if they wil zip up the files and send them as a straight zip file to you.You could also try contacting the author and asking if the scenery is available in a straight zip file.HTH
