Converting FS9 sceneries for FSX?

Featured Replies

Hello, Apologies if I am posting in the wrong forum...I've been unable to resolve my question.I have been enjoying FSX and Tongass Fjords X a great deal; lately I am flying almost exclusively in this region. My question is, I would like to use some FS9 add on sceneries that worked in Tongass Fjords (FS9) but don't appear to in TFX. Can anyone recommend the best way to adapt these sceneries (such as Port Walter Fish Hatchery) for FSX (for my own use)? I have no experience in scenery design, but will learn if that's the best option (either starting from scratch or converting FS9 bgls to FSX). Thanks very much! Jeff

Are you talking about scenery objects or something more?

I think these are just scenery objects (most static, occasionally there appear to be some mobile ones) that are placed on the terrain. I suspect it might be that the change from the flat world of FS9 to the round world of FSX renders the objects invisible because they don't match the terrain data? Thanks for the quick reply!Jeff

Well it might also be that FSX does not render some FS9 objects correctly. Certain plain textures are not displayed. Also make sure that your scenery complexity settings are the same in both sims. Finally I would suggest contacting the authors. If the objects are defined to be placed AGL then they should show at the right level in either sim.
