November 18, 200322 yr I was doing some tweaking tonight with my system and noticed something very strange. I had seen this before once or twice but just thought it was a texture or mip issue. Go to any airport and park your running plane..default or add on...on the runway. Now observe the edge of the runway texture and the terrain just beyond it. The runway is jiggling every now and then as if its sliding on top of a greased pan!!!!! I tried this at several random airports tonight and they all did it.I'm wondering if its something specific to my set up or settings here, will do some more testing tonight or tommorow morning. In the meantime, I'm interested to see if others are seeing this also. I am thinking it may be related to the bouncing airplane syndrome I know others have seen from time to time on switching to outside views. This can't be good for frame rates or stability I would think. I am also wondering if this might be linked to some folks problems with major ground related slowdowns too. Weird! :)Hornit
November 18, 200322 yr yes I have also noticed this. This looks like a rounding precision error in the 3D driver OR the video card OR direct X OR FS9 (it did the same in FS2002 with the multitextured ground - the "noisy details" added over the ground texture to make it looks like having more pixels per square inch)I wonder if a 16bit Z buffer could be the culprit, although I would hope they use a 1/Z buffer for added precision closeby....
November 18, 200322 yr Nope- can't do it here- wonder if it's something to do with individual display settings. For the record settings herewithT14200/128mb not overclockedTerrain Mesh -80%T Texture -HighT Detail -Land onlyWater effects -High, Special Effects -MediumScenerey Complexity- Extremely DenseAutogen -Extremely DenseScreen -1024x768x32Dave
