wide screen in FS9

I read many of the other topics on wide screen monitors and just want to be sure I understand before I buy a new LED monitor Am I correct that the scenery and VC will work fine with a wide screen monitor but that some adjustments must be made in 2d cockpit? I prefer to keep adjustments as simple as possible without having to make all kinds of changes for every aircraft. Looks like if I drag the edges in a bit on each side the 2d will work with a little black space at the edges.. I'm considering a 20-21" monitor. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.Bill

Bill- With 2D panels, simply drag the panel RIGHT edge to the left, until gauges are round again, then fill in the missing space with a popup sub-panel or even two popups. No black spaces! When you are happy, Save the Flight so you can restart next time with everything ready to go.AR

Thanks AR.Does that mean that I have to do the same thing for a different flight? That the modified screen only works for the saved flight?

You can start with the Saved Flight, then GoTo another airport, change time of day, weather etc. The Saved Flight is just a convenience.I typically have 5-10 Saved Flights for each plane I fly- various scenarios, locations, weather etc.One of my favourites is a PMDG 747 proficiecy maintenance flight- everything including the FMC is set up for a 15 minute circuit at my home airport with the aircraft holding at the end of the runway. Just release the brakes and open the throttle! A great way to refresh your memory.Another for the same plane commences just before a turn to final for practicing landings. And all Saved Flights eliminate having to set up the panel appearance each time- in my case across three different monitors.AR

Thanks again AR,I decided to not get a wide screen. If I get a monitor with a 5:4 ratio will the 2d cockpit still work?Whew!Bill

I think you can make 2D panels work with almost any ratio monitor.AR
