March 11, 201115 yr Hey guys...after many years of holding off from building a new computer system I've finally decided to start putting one together for myself (still running on an old 3GH single core, lol) but I need some friendly advice on picking out the perfect display monitor for myself. I'm interested in trying an LED backlit LCD (unless for some reason you feel the LED backlit models are problematic, then just LCD would have to be ok).I always sit within 2 feet of the display and space is somewhat limited for me so i think i'd like to stick with a screen size that won't seem too big when sitting up close as I do (do you think 21-23 would be a good size?).Color accuracy is important to me as is a good amount of brightness and contrast control since some games i prefer to play with lots of brightness and yet at other times id like to be able to turn down contrast such as nite flights flown with full sunlight shining through my windows here :-)I've been looking at some Asus models (VE228H & ML238H) but Ive also heard that Samsung has some nice ones as well...to be honest there's so many choices these days and coming from only CRT experience I'm really afraid of making a mistake in my decision process.I guess I want something overall that'll look and perform great in games (FPS games and FSX) yet offer good brightness contrast controls for me. A solid base with swivel would be a plus but not a necessity. My budget goal is to find the best quality and features I can get for under $300. Most of what I've seen so far is under $200 but not too feature rich so Im wondering if you think there might be better alternatives...or are those 2 models fine?
