How to get rid of the "stalling" sound

Featured Replies

Hi,When I am flying helicopters, I sometimes get whats seems to be a stalling sound, like a loud heart beat type noise (cant really explian it any better). How can I get rid of this?.CheersDan.

Either fly slower or get a pacemaker, Dan.Seriously, now, which helicopters? Ones with stick shakers or stall alarms, or just any rotorbirds? Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumonthttp://www.swiremariners.com/newlogo.jpg:-lol

Hi,LOL, anyway, its all helicopters, and all planes if I fly near to stall, once it starts it wont stop, even if I end the flight, the only way I can get it to stop is to exit FS and restart.Dan.

I have noticed th same problem, it is very annoying and wish it could be toggled off.

Hi Dan,Despite what others may say, I can assure you that you are not alone. The sound is something like "thwump..thwump". I can usually start it by pulling up too sharply. Sometimes it will stop following recovery, but more often it will persist, which can be very irritating if you have to exit the sim to get rid of it. I've noted the same noise occasionally with some a/c as well - forget which as it's not something you are desperate to repeat ;)Until your post I have just assumed it was a bug of some sort or some anomalous sound card event ( I have a SB Audigy). Now I tend to favour the former explanation.Mike

Thank heavens for that, I thought I was going mad (madder?;)), yeah its a royal pain in the EDIT: you cant even say #### now, shesh, what about bum?, I wish I could figure out how to stop it, its a bit odd have a stall warning in a chopper!!.CheersDan.

I haven't noticed it either, but I do all my rotary wing flying in FS2002.Looking through the FS9 helicopter sound folders the only wav files I find that sound like a heartbeat or "thwump..thwump" are the "hskidr" and "hskidl" wav files which are the helicopter touchdown sounds. You can play these wav files with Windows Media Player, and if they turn out to be the annoying sound in question, then just delete the wav files, or open the sound.cfg file and either remove or comment out the entries as shown below://(LEFT_TOUCHDOWN)filename=hskidl//(RIGHT_TOUCHDOWN)filename=hskidrSorry I can't be more specific, but I tried everything I could think of and couldn't reproduce the problem, only normal helicopter sounds resulted. But I sure didn't hear any touchdown sounds when landing. These touchdown sound files and sound.cfg file entries were present but inop in the FS2002 Bell 206, so it could be there's also a problem with the correct playback of these sounds in FS9.If the touchdown wav files don't resemble the problem noise, then you could search through the FS9 sound folder for the offending wav file, hopefully you'll find it there!

I noticed something like this for the first time in FS2002 last night and realized it was the "stress" sound in active camera, which I had just installed yesterday. It can be disabled from the active camera control panel. Could this be what you're hearing?BlairCYOW

Man your a genius, why do I never look at the obvious!!!, LOL, yeah it was the sounds from ActiveCamera.Dan.
