socket 775 cooler on Asus p8p67

Featured Replies

Hi guys,I'm a little nervous now as my new parts have been shipped. I have a CM V8 on my socket 775 Asus P5QL PRO. Will this cooler fit on my new Asus P8P67 without new brackets? I started to google but haven't found an answer yet.I bought my V8 before the 1156 were out and I don't have the newer brackets.I really hope it works, really don't feel like buying a new cooler. Thanks

That's what I feared. Would a CM hyper 212+ be OK? I could get one in town for pretty cheap.

You can probably get the new brackets shipped for free from CM, but if you don't want to wait, yep, that CM Hyper 212+ is actually just as good if not better than the V8. You could probably add a 2nd 12cm fan also and see if it helps with temps, but it's a great little cooler

Very cool. I just grabbed one. I should have grabbed an extra fan to put on the other side but will do that later. Dazz, we have the same case, I'm guessing having a fan blowing out on the cooler means I should remove the fan that is on the actual case blowing out(otherwise it seems quite tight for space). I assume the other fan on the right should blow toward the cooler and the other one toward the outside. I should also put faster fans pointing up to get rid of more warm air.Anyway, thanks again for your input.

You shouldn't need to remove the exhaust back fan at all. I have a monster of a cooler and added a 3rd fan right there, there's plenty room for it. Both fans in the CM Hyper 212 should blow backwards, just as the one at the back of the case.As for the top fans, it depends, play with different configs and see what works bestEDIT:http://img514.imageshack.us/f/54171519.jpg/

I see on the pic that the hyper 212+ gives you more room than the V8. I'll just leave it there and add another one on the other side. As far as the top, I have 2 of the original case fans blowing up, but they don't seem to move a lot of air through the top of the case. Maybe faster ones would help. Thanks
