The way I did it after installing new AI traffic was simply to change the filetype of the default traffic BGLs. So in Scenery/World/Scenery, I renamed 'trafficAircraft.bgl' to something like 'trafficAircraft.lgb'; same with the other traffic files (boats, carriers) if you don't want them.;)
