March 25, 201115 yr Other than enabling ACHI, is there anything else I need to do have the motherboard work "nicely" with my SSD? And sorry if this is a dumb question, but do I plug the SSD into the sata 6gbps or the sata 3gbps port? Also is the 6 backwards compatible? | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |

If you have a SATA 6Gb/s SSD you will want to plug it into a SATA III (6Gb/s) port or it will be limited to SATA 2's 3Gb/s
March 25, 201115 yr Author Hmm I don't quite understand...I'm only having one SSD, and it is intended for FSX (I changed that around from the OS, but I'm putting OS on my main 1TB drive.)So 1TB drive for Windows and software1 250GB for backup (from previous installation)1 36GB raptor for FSX and Acceleration installations (copied off the DVD's, great time saver)So my intentions are to start with a brand new build. Do I download this software and install it to the 1TB hdd, then it will do what it needs to do to the SSD? | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |

If you are not going to use it for the OS, simply format your SSD under W7 and copy the content of your FSX partition there. If you are reinstalling everything and you want to make sure your SSD is alligned, use AS SSD. see the pictures above where in the first one it reads "OK" while the second one (missalligned) reads "BAD".

My german is a little rusty but you're listing read/write speeds with that program correct? | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |

Yes, it's a benchmark and you can test your drive's read/write performance with it. It has a sequential R/W test, two random access R/W, and access timeYou can use AS SSD to check your partition allignment for the FSX SSD too. Anyway, if you format the SSD in W7 you should be fine
